We are getting black on the screen and it grows from the right side and moves across the screen. If we tap the side of the tv it goes away for a little bit.

tried to check first loose connection connector or cold soldered component parts like ic in the X board, which send signal at the screen panel display.if ok, look for the t-con board re seat the lvds cable connector.then if can not get with re seating the t-con board must have bad component parts.

My daugther sprayed cleaner on our vizio tv screen, and now there streaks and a ***** of black pixels at the bottom. Is the tv junk now? Can it be fixed? Will it get worst? Thanks!
This is a sign of an aging horizontal deflection circuit. Go through your initial setup menu and see if the set gives you the option to adjust 'width.' This may have enough range to stretch the video to the edge but it will also affect the geometry of the displayed video.
As of now, the component most likely growing old is an electrolytic capacitor in the horizontal circuit that has lost value. It is usually a bipolar capacitor in the range of 4.7 - 33 uFd.
It will likely continue and become more annoying and if you look closely, you can probably see that the geometry of the picture on that side is not as it should be; it will often appear 'squashed' together.
Allowing it to just grow may result in the failure of the flyback (a high voltage transformer) and/or the main power transistor that drives it.
Your problem is most likely caused by a cold solder joint in the vertical circuit. Normally this is easy to find and correct. The problem will only get worse over time, but not likely for more damage to occur.
sounds like that there was a small ding or crack in the crystal display and as all glass does when it gets cracked the crack will grow. unfortuatly theres not a thing to do untill it breaks or live with it Sorry about the bad news.
