Philips 50PF9631D 50 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television Logo
Posted on Apr 16, 2009

I have green and red "speckles" that are very distracting within the dark/black areas of the picture. I upgraded software with Philips. No help. Nearest Philips repair is almost an hour away. TV is a 50" Philips Ambilight Plasma. Bought it 2 years ago and thought I got a good deal. I wouldn't think it would only last 2 years.

Hi Mikshanks,

I had the same problem with my TV. It was a horizontal problem with different shades of color, and black spots. I replaced my Upper & Lower Y-buffer boards. Your Y-sus board should be okay since it still powers on the screen. You should replace the Y-buffers Upper & Lower, and it should work. I hope this helps.

best regards,
Tyler

My tv is showing to much red on screen

I don't have a lot to go on. If this is an older rear projection, this usually means the face of the green picture tube is dark (the picture goes purple-red) or there is too much red tube(excessive drive). This is a technical adjustment as it is in an area containing hazardous voltages. Adjustments will be a stop gap as rear projection TVs are all past their usable life span (About 8 years + with moderate use)

Problem with the picture on my Vizio flat panel

I work as a Contractor for Vizio repairs, and I can tell you that the only solution is to replace the motherboard, or if under warranty REPLACE IT! I have had situations when I replace Motherboard and within 2-3 hours the TV is making either Green, Red, Or Blue pixels where dark areas are. If under warranty don't accept any thing but a full replacement.

I get a red/blue/green static at the top of my plasma tv.. when the picture goes to a dark color its usually speckles red.. then when its a light color it doesnt really show.. wats the problem?

In some cases it is just a matter of making voltage adjustments on a plasma set to get rid of the spots you are seeing. I would look for a reputable technician in your area to see if this is the case. Good luck...

Mine does not seem to be changing when it warms up, and I also get it on my digital cable as well as on any DVD's I play. Please help with any advise. Lg42px52 speckling.

The speckling is caused by the CTRL board. The firmware needs to be updated. Unfortunately LG does not provide a media slot for downloaded upgrades. You must order an install the factory updated CTRL board located between the power and the Y sustain boards.

I have green specks in my black areas when movement occurs. Does anyone know of a resolution of the problem?

you will need a technician service the y sustain board. the tech will connect an oscilliscope to the board and readjust the voltages on this board. when these voltages are off, like yours, you will see speckles in dark or light backgrounds....
