Buffalo wireless router

Can connect to internet when lap top is connected to wireless router. When I disoconnect to take laptop into another room, the "wireless" function of the the router does not work and I cannot connect to the internet. I did not hook this up (cable guy did) so not sure what step to take. It's just the "wireless" funtion that doesn't work, otherwise, I CAN get on-line no problems....

Although cable to desktop connects to internet, my router from desktop to laptop via router won't connect.

Desk top to internet is OK.
How about Destop through Router connection to Internet OK?
Assuming you want to connect wireless from Lap top to Network, need to configure correctly for wireless in Router.
If you connect Lap top to router by wire and it didn't work that mean your router is bad.

Can't get internet connection to my lap top.ps i have a desk top.

Is your laptop wireless adapter correctly configured? It may be set to only recieve certain types of signals (802.11b, when you may beed 802.11g etc), so check if the configuration of the laptop matches the configuration of the router.

To test if the laptop can get internet at all, try to get to a wired internet line (your wireless router may have some Ethernet ports on the back; laptops usually have Ethernet connectivity), just incase your laptop is set to block all internet signals coming in.

Hope this helps!

Laptop

the internet cable should be connected to the "Internet" or "WAN" port on the router. Your PC should be connected to one of the regular ports on the back of the router and your laptop can be connected just like the pc, or it can connect wirelessly.

Then you should be able to see the internet from your laptop.
