My clothes dryer, Maytag PYE2300AYW starts when I hold the button in, but will not stay started. It happened after moving it to a new house. The dryer venting is working as I can see and feel the air at the outside vent when I have the button held in. It also is generating heat. The drum spins and all is working as I would expect, but when i release the start button it stops running. When I release the button, the timer is still running (low ticking sound) and will continue to as it had previously when I stopped the dryer by opening the door. I couldn't find my product in the drop-down so it is not the one listed in the Product field.
Could be a number of issues really. Motor is what I have found to be a problem, the start windings work, but the run windings wont. Also it could be a timer causing the problems as well. Both of these cost a bit of money to replace. Be sure to check the door switch (not usually a problem), buit check it to be sure. Let me know what you find out, but sure sounds like a motor issue. If I come up with any other ideas, I will write them right to you. Jim PS Also try and check all your wiring inside to be sure something hadn't come loose. Forgot about the whole moving thing. Let me know if I can help you with anything else, like getting into the cabinet, etc. Jim
