Cold water trickles, hot water fills fast as normal

20 YEAR OLD 70 SERIES WASHER. COLD WATER TRICKLES, TAKES FOREVER TO FILL. HOT WATER FILLS FAST AS NORMAL. CHECKED HOSES AND WATER FLOWS FINE. NO BLOCKAGE DETECTED. HOSES ATTACH TO MACHINE INTO HOT AND COLD RED PLASTIC NOZZLE WHICH IS PART OF SOME RED PLASTIC SENDING UNIT WITH WIRES CONNECTED TO THE BACK. IT APPEARS THAT WATER GOES IN TO THE RED UNIT, THEN IMMEDIATELY TO THE RIGHT INTO A RUBBER HOSE. CAN THE SENDING UNIT/VALVES NEED TO BE REPLACED?

Where your water lines connect there is a sc reen inside and if it is clogged with rust lime and or mineral deposit. it needs cleaned out. you can pull it out with a ice pick or something pointy. Check your screen first and if that doesn't fix ya then yes replace the unit.

Hot water barely comes out,

If you switched the feed hoses over and the problem reversed itself, cold has gone from fast to slow useing the hot water pipe and hot from slow to fast useing the cold water pipe then this would indicate a fault in the water supply from the hot pipe. What sort of pressure is coming from the hot pipe when not connected to the machine but filling in to a bucket? Are there any shut off valves before the pipe that supplies the hot water? Are they fully turned on? Any kinks in the feed pipe for the hot water? Has the hot water feed pipe collapsed internally? Change the pipe to check this and not just at the machine side.

Cold water runs slow

Turn the cold water off and remove the hose at the machine. You will find a screen located there and you will need to clean it out.

My washer seems is filling very slowly, and doesn't empty all the water out of the tub. I tried both temperature settings and it doesn't seem to matter. It will fluctuate back and forth on how fast it...

regarding your filling problem , most washers have small screen filters at the water intake, take your hot and cold hoses of of your machine and observe the fittings on the machine you will likely find the filters there they are just a mesh screen, remove them and clean , then reassemble this should solve your slow filling problem

Kenmore 90 Series Washer : cold water fills at just a trickle:

your hot water goes through the water heater so contaminates settle in the heater. the cold does not, there is a screen inside the fill valve where the hose hooks to the valve on the machine. if this in not plugged then the fill valve will have to be replaced. because of the build up of contaminates..

Cold water trickle hot water runs good

turn off water valves at wall, disconnect the supply hoses from the washer. where the hoses connect to the washer, there is usually a stainless steel screen/strainer inline on both the hot and cold inlet. corrosion on the cold side is pretty common. Menards, Lowes Home Depot stores sell the replacment screeens.

Cold water filling

There are filter screens where the supply hoses connect to the washer. On some brands there is a screen where the hose connects to the water valve at the wall. The screen is probably full of sediment.
