Hl-dt-st dvd-rw_gsa-h11n ata

Have just upgraded to Windows 7 and now I am getting the following message "The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)". Can you advise what I need to do to get my DVD/CD tray working please?

You seem to be onto things (though your problem classification was generic instead of for your Toshiba model A305.) Install all the updated drivers for your laptop from the laptop's support site (Toshiba's, that is) so you can use your drive. Drives fail sometimes, and you could try sticking an old movie or something in there instead of nothing, but it is likely it is just the missing driver.
