Help please My 47" rear projection Panasonic pt-47wx49e comes on and show the picture for about 4 seconds then it shuts right off. When I try to press the power button to turn it back on it doesn't comes on, but when I unplug it and press the power button it comes on for 4 seconds and turns off again. Any idea on what can be the problem.

There should of been a protective screen for this model. Here are some links to obtain original replacement screens from a major Panasonic distributor if needed:
your convergence IVs need to be replaced. Its an easy repair if you can solder. you can get the two ICs you need at the following link. they also provide free installation instructions and free on line tech support while youre doing the repair. The only thing I can think of that would make the picture fade to black is a loose solder joint on the filament supply. Each of the 3 picture tubes has a filament and if the 6.3 volt supply to those filaments is suddenly lost, the picture fades to black as the filaments cool down. An experienced tech can find and correct this for you quite easily.
My PT-47WX49 has the exact same problem. Any ideas anyone?
