There is no specific wiring for eMachine. your wiring goes from power supply (big box with fan) to motherboard (large board with many components) to hard drive, cd rom, fan, etc. pretty easy to figure out if you look closely
Look very closely at the motherboard where the wires go... maybe with a magnifying glass . should say what wires go where. ie. (hdd led, reset, pwr. etc) if you reverse the wires.. just switch them back. its just for indicators.. also u could google the mainboard model number or search acer site for led pinout on mainboard.
what kind of motherboard did you change..? try to search in the internet.. just type the name of the board and including the diagram.. sample.."ASUS MOTHERBOARD POWER DIAGRAM"...
You should be able to see the words/letters that go with the jumpers on the motherboard itself. look around the jumper settings area for power, pwr etc. and match them up with your jumpers which should have what the go to on them.
Hi there if you look real closley at the wires they are labled such as (pwr)led (reset) (hdd led ) (remote switch this the power for the computer) ect ect now look real closley and you will see the same markings on the edge of the board by each pin that they go to.. or you can also contact e-machines tech support and they will be able to help you out more if needed best regards mike
Hopefully eMachines are consistent with their wiring/layout design, that being the case this diagram for T2898 (by benz18724) should point you in the right direction...
Alternatively compare the abbreviated pin symbols on the header to the motherboard and match them up.
Just because it has a SATA plug doesn't mean you'll need it- especially if your machines a few years old. If your hard drive doesn't have the sata connections, then you probably won't use it.
As to why it still won't power up- how did you determine your last power supply was dead? Did you happen to switch out with a known good one? There is the slim chance the new one is ****- bad out of box. Any of your friends have a power supply tester or can you buy one? They are cheap- about $20. A good investment if you help others out as well.
If you are replacing the power supply and it has 4 pin 12v conector and your motherboard doesn't, just disregard the 4 pin plug. The 20 pin conector will supply sufficient power for the processor. Many of the older motherboards did not have a separate 12v supply for the processor.
