Display contrast adjust

The Robinair 34788 is an automotive air conditioning service machine that features a large, easy-to-read display. You will need to adjust the contrast and brightness down to about 50%.

Turn calculator ON.
Press the Menu button.
Use arrows to get to the SYSTEM icon.
Press Left Arrow to decrease contrast or Right Arrow to increase contrast (darken the screen.
If the screen is not legible (too light or too dark) you use ALPHA E to access the System menu.

Either the ON button is sticky and hard to press or contact is not good (calculator may have been dropped and casing is loose)
OR you have to adjust the contrast of the screen.

To adjust contrast

1. Press [2nd] key and release it.
2. Press and HOLD [UPArrow] key to darken screen or [DownArrow] key to lighten.
3. Release the Arrow keys when contrast is to your liking.

It has two batteries CR2032. They should not be removed at the same time. There must always be one battery in the calculator. The calculator should be turned OFF when changing batteries.

Often after you change batteries the screen contrast may be too light and you cannot see anything. The contrast can be adjusted (lightened or darkened). As you adjust the contrast setting,a highlighted number in the upper right corner changes to indicate the current contrast setting; 0 is the lightest, and 9 is the darkest.
To adjust the display contrast:
1. Press and release the [2nd] key.
2. Use one of two keys: (UpArrow or DownArrow)
--- To increase the contrast (darken), press and hold [UpArrow]
---To decrease the contrast (lighten), press and hold DownArrow

One possible solution is to dim the screen contrast. To do this, turn the calculator on press the 2nd key, then the up arrow. If contrast has been darkened, this should work. To darken the screen if you get it too light, you do the same, but use the down arrow. Hope this helps.

There is another brightness adjust on the back of the monitor.

1. Use the cursor keys to select the system icon,
2. Press the "exe" button then press F1 to display the
contrast adjustment screen.
3. The right cursor will darken the screen while
the left will lighten it.
4. Selecting the F1 (INIT) option will return the calculator
to it's initial default.
