still the best way to resolve this issue is by resetting the camera to factory default, this is illustrated in the manual that came with the device.

The LCD screen is defective, replace it.

When in shooting mode the LCD screen has colored horizontal lines scrolling through it and only shows red and amber lights for shooting.
When you depress the shutter key it records colored lines.
I can play back the pictures that are on the memory chip.
I like the response to my question and don't have time to pursue it right now, so l am not ready to accept it yet.
