Smarthru 4 cannot open device

Forget SmarThru. Download Samsung Universal Printer Driver 3. It must be version 3. Install that, make it your default printer and delete any other supposed Samsung printer drivers. When you go to Scan, the program should automatically download Samsung's Document Creator and this will work your fax simply and easily. Anyway, it works for me.

Open your smarThru programm, then click on scan to, then on OCR, in the new opened window set a mark at the option " Scan Multiple", then you can scan as much pages as you need to.

Your machine offers the following ways to scan an image:

• From TWAIN-compliant software: You can use other

software including Adobe Photoshop Deluxe and Adobe

Photoshop.

• From the Windows images Acquisition (WIA) driver: Your

machine supports the WIA driver for scanning images.

• From the Samsung SmarThru software: Launch Samsung

SmarThru and open Scan To to begin scanning.

NOTE: To scan with your machine, you must install the
software.

Loading document

You can use the document glass to load an original document

for copying and scanning.

1 Lift and open the document cover.

2 Place the document face down on the document glass

and align it with the registration guide at the top left

corner of the glass.

3 Close the document cover. Be careful not to move the

document.

NOTES:

• Leaving the document cover open while copying may affect

copy quality and toner consumption.


So, basically, if you have the software installed. Open the Smarthru software, load your original onto the glass, face down, and close the lid. Select scan, the software may provide you with a preview of the scanned image. Once you scan the document, you must save it to a location on your hard drive, often it is called "My Scans" in your "my documents" file.

Start Smarthru4, open task manager (ctrl-shift-esc), locate task controlpanel.exe (which is smarthru4), right click, set priority, low.
You should now be able to use smarthru4 without the PC freezing. It works for me. Why? I do not know.

Used the CD Driver Installer that comes with the unit, You need to install the drivers of the device to make it work

scanning from any device is simple you need three things 
   user name   bill    password    piguine    path            \\server\scans\shared folder
the scanner needs rights to write to  a folder on the network..  good luck
