SOURCE: TOMTOM GO 300 THe LCD screen won't light up.
Screens that don't light up are usually caused by the bulb going ( called " The Backlight " ). Unfortunatly , on a TomTom it is intergral with the screen so cannot be replaced seperatly. You can only replace the whole screen. There are other possiblities for the screen not lighting such as the ribbon cable that goes to the screen might not be quite plugged in right or theres a break in that ribbon cable + other reasons that become less likely as we go down the list. A simple test with a miltimeter by someone with knowledge of tomtoms will prove or disprove the backlight working and you should then know where you stand. Good luck.

If you have a memory card in then remove it press the reset and try to start up again.
This problem is usually the way the memory card is formatted.
I solved mine by doing a search for "format tom tom memory card" or "format tom tom SD card"
After I had done that I backed up my TT then put the card in and then restored to the card and all good from there on.
