There are a number of causes for this. The usual cause is the memory switch on the side of the mirror box. Other cause is a broken battery compartment, battery leakage up the power wire to the circuit board, a bad circuit board, etc. also the on/off switch connected to the advance lever may be bad. For some reason the circuit is not getting power.

finally, there is a glass disk with a circuit imprinted on it under the top cover under the rewind knob section. It was very common for this to crack with even minor impacts in this area. This part hasn't been available for 15 years. It is called the FRE.

Just out of curiosity, are the batteries in the correct direction? When you half-press the shutter release button, does the meter needle in the viewfinder move?

I can't count the number of times I've put the batteries in the wrong direction on my own FE. I've never damaged the camera, and it works fine when I reverse the batteries.

SOURCE: shutter

This is a fairly common problem with Nikon FE . It is usually caused by poor connection ( usually dry joint ) between the light meter board ( all of this is just under the top cover on the right hand side and the top cover is quite easy to remove ) and the shutter and you fix it by resoldering all the connecting wires between the two.

Yes, on the camera body, you have to remove the lens. The ring sits outside the metal mount for the lens.

SOURCE: nikon FE shutter speeds problem

I don't know, but it's worth a try. I took mine to the camera store, because my shutter wouldn't even work anymore, even with fresh batteries in it. He again tried new batteries, and turned the shutter speed knob from Automatic all the way over to "B" for Bulb, and back to the Auto. Guess What! I haven't used the camera in 3-5 years because I thought it was broke and going to need factory repair. Well, this tricked worked for me. I was so thrilled, because my daughter wanted some double exposures and special filters shots for her wedding. Also the weight of the camera I couldn't handle anymore with a health problem, so I went to digital, but would love a Nikon good digital.
Good Luck!

Camera exilim ex-s600 will not take pictures outside, pictures turning out white, yet will take pictures inside ok.is this a worthwhile repair

This seems to be a software problem with your camera. Your camera should, if on AUTO mode, automatically expose your photo accurately. Try half pressing the shutter button (used to take pictures) while outside to adjust focus and exposure, then press the button fully to take picture. If your camera cannot adjust to take a properly exposed picture (not bright white), then it is possible that the shutter speed is stuck on a too high speed, outside daytime shutter speed should be fast (1/1000 sec). Or if your shutter speed adjust accurately, it could be the aperture if the aperture is not small enough for daylight shooting. This is likely a software problem. Try adjusting your settings manually and see if the picture turns out!

HOW DO I CHECK SHUTTER COUNT WITH MY NIKON D-90

I think you mean shutter speed. If this is the case, there are two spinning dials on the camera. When the camera is set in manual mode, one will opperate the F Stop or appature. The other will operate shutter speed.

The f stop numbers will look like this:

1.0 1.2 1.4 1.7 2 2.4 2.8 3.3 4 4.8 5.6 6.7 8 9.5 11 13 16 19 22

The shutter speeds will look like this:

  • 1/1000 s
  • 1/500 s
  • 1/250 s
  • 1/125 s
  • 1/60 s
  • 1/30 s
  • 1/15 s
  • 1/8 s
  • 1/4 s
  • 1/2 s
  • 1 s

I cant seem to change the shutter speed from 1/400. I have put a battery in. no matter what setting it always seems to fire the same shutter speed.

Sounds like the electronics are broken. A lot of cameras will fire the shutter at full speed if the electronics aren't working to slow it down. Take it to a professional shop.

In manual mode cannot set shutter speed to

The "--" is the equivalent of the bulb setting with the remote control. The first press of the button opens the shutter and starts the exposure. Another press of the button closes the shutter and ends the exposure. This is so you don't have to hold the button down and risk a bird flying through the beam (and to conserve battery power).

My Cannon Rebel EOS 35mm film Camera is producing blank Film

If you are getting some photos where only part of the image is visible, then I suspect that they were photos where you used a flash.

Cameras have a specified maximum shutter speed for use with a flash, this is called its 'sync speed'. This is the fastest speed that the camera will need to open the lead shutter and close the trailing shutter in order to expose the entire surface area of the image and have it evenly lit by the flash unit. If you shoot too fast of a speed, then the shutter will only be partly completed its exposure and you'll get a photo with only part of the image showing. The faster the speed past the sync speed, the less the resulting area of the image. Most cameras will have a sync speed of 1/250 or less. I think a lot of the Rebel models are 1/90 - consult your manual.

What is the range shutter speed?

The DiMAGE A2 controls shutter speed in the range of 30 sec. to 1/4000 sec. in 1/3 increments. (at bulb maximum 30 sec.) The speed, 1/4000 sec. is controlled only when the aperture is f5.6 or over in P and A mode. The highest speed in S and M mode is 1/2000 sec. The lower range depends on the set camera sensitivity. ISO800: 4 sec., ISO400: 8 sec., ISO200: 15 sec., ISO100 and ISO64: 30 sec.
