This error is for the optical image stabilisation.

Generally the camera should be ok after your turn it on and off again. The error you are getting is because either the OIS has malfunctioned or is stuck.

I think you might need to take it to Panasonic since the camera is still new and you are sure that you did not bang it or dropped it.
But Before that, I suggest that you take out its memory stick, the battery etc and keep the camera like that for about 15 minutes. Then only reinsert the battery (fully Charged) and try to power on.

Try a little tap ( but not too hard) on the side of the camera....this might realign if the OIS has got misaligned. If you are lucky, you might not need to go to Panasonic.

Why does my Panasonic DMCFZ28 take pictures when I push the zoom lever?

Hi,
I suspect the snap key is shot circuited, use contact cleaner spray in the click button often press it to get ride of possible carbon shot circuit between the switch. in some cases the processor will malfunction, and if moisture or water particles gone inside, you must open the cam and clean the motherboard thoroughly with PCB cleaning agent.

I have a lumix fz28 which when you turn it on states that 'the memory card is locked'how do I unlock it? thanks

There is a small white plastic sliding Tab on the SD card try it both up and down positions, if it still has the error, then maybe the switch in the camera is dirty / faulty

I am getting a write error please check card error

The key phrase is "it works in my other camera". You can only use a card in one camera at a time. When you switch to the other camera, you must format the card in the camera to optimize it for that camera's system. Don't forget to download any pics first since formatting will completely erase the card.
