This is almost certainly what you need:
http://www.coppelltvrepair.com/p/635/lg-eay60968701-power-supply-repair-kit-for-tv-not-turning-on-clicking-on-and-off
Pay attention you need to look at your board to find if it needs two or three power resistors and get the appropriate repair kit.
Of course you can also send the board for repair, but at $15 and basic soldering skills required this must be a no-brainer if not for you directly then surely for some of your buddies.
Hope this helps!

My samsung lcd is doing the same thing, and I have been told that the power supply is bad. But apparently samsung won'r sell you one.

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. Or, something simple like a blown fuse inside the TV. The most common board to go bad is the Backlight Inverter Board. It what supplies power to the screen.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.
You have a few choices:
1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.
4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Check for swollen capacitors on the power supply board.Very common problem on samsung lcd tv's.

With any luck you will have the same problem asa the rest of us : blown power board capaciters , remove the rear cover {20 screws} look in the middle of the back of the set with the cover {5 screws} removed from the power supply . Now look to the upper right cornerof the board in the middle of the tv there may be 1 or several capaciters leaking from the X shape on the top , this be be your problem match up replacements but source units that have a higher max voltage than 10volts 7 get them soldered into the board . I repaired mine that failed at 16 months for $4 in parts & it took longer to remove the screws than it did to affect the repair. If you are not conifident about soldering on your $2000 tv then take the board to someone for the job to be done , I would not advise this as a first soldering job , good luck I can't belive how common this is Samsung needs to step up ......

Most likely it has some bad capacitors in the power supply. Flat--panel sets are VERY hard on capacitors, due to the fact that the "rising heat' from the set "cooks" the caps and they fail VERY early.
