My emerge UPS 500 is not at all giving backup.. its stays only for 1min after power goes.. before it had given more than 10 min but now it not even stands for 1 min.. pls help me.. wat i have to do??

this is easy ,just simple math. (or touch of ohms laws)

NO PC stated, Nor monitors., maker and models.

no UPS stated. maker and model

each PC as a watts rating (we measure it)
then each UPS has total power rating
then there is RUN time.
what run time do you wish,? 1min. 1 hour, 1day? what?

the manual for your UPS covers this.
but if 10 PC used 100watts you need at least 1000Watt UPS.
10 times 100 = 1000 math.
but the run time will be short.
To gain run time longer, RTM read your UPS manual and read the page called RUN TIME at a given load in watts.

the whole purpose of a UPS is run time at a AC power blackout.

Check the battery fuses, and that the UPS actually charges the batteries.

test with Voltmeter True RMS

Your ups working overload. Please change your circuit breker

you need new batteries,

then i think all will be back to normal.

ups batteries are very dangerous, always seek the advice of a good tech or electronics shop.

APC 500VA ups meant for 1 Desktop and one montiro it will have battery backup for 10 to 15 minutes for the above.

Normally, You should make the raw power connected to UPS should be always ON.

The power cables of CPU and Monitor is connected with UPS. When not in use, please press the Button available on the UPS.

The UPS Life is normally 2 to 3 Years only. Now you are getting the sound and Red Light will always blink and not allow to use the system.

Better replace the 12 Vols battery to get some more life for the UPS.

And check for any loose connection of the power cables connected with Raw Power and UPS System.

sol 1. check whether the ups is charging or not.

sol2. check the battery

just check the fuse and mosfets(the one with 3 pin ic's) and replace if necessary
recommended to handle if u r a technician with soldering and component testing knowledge.
remove the battery and re connect after 2 mins

I have the same problem with an apc smart-ups VS 650.

 

New batteries - charge in batteries is good (also tested under load).

 

When AC power fails, no power is supplied to PC connectors by the UPS.

 

UPS self test works fine. UPS does not report any problems via software - Power Management under Windows XP.
