install more ram. i hate to bash on a pc manufacturer but emachines tends to go with lowest bidder parts. it's probably your graphics that can't keep up and it may be overheating or overloading the cache/buffer. if you give me your model number and what game you're playing i can verify this. you need to make sure your system has supports the minimum requirements for the game
Im guessing XP and if you have the CD do whats called a repair install. Choose the upgrade option then install it, this will not harm any of your programs at all you will just have to do all the windows updates when its finished. Cheers and please vote
Your computer freezes due to corruptedsystem files. System files corruption is one of the most responsible causes forcrashing the entire computer. Deleting or moving the system files may crashyour computer.
1. Insert the Microsoft Windows Installation CD ROM. 2. Click Start ' Run. 3. Type SFC/ ScanNow and press ENTER. 4. Follow the instructions on your screen.
Corrupted Registry
System registry corruption leads to runtime errors and your computer crashes.Windows Registry is very complex and not easy to repair manually. Hence, athird-party Registry Cleaner and PC Optimizer software is recommended.
1. Download a Registry Cleaner and PC Optimizer software such as Reginout. 2. Click Registry Cleaner tab. 3. Click Start Scan. 4. The registry scan will start. Wait till it is finished. 5. As per the results, click Fix Now button to start repairing you registry.
Often good registry cleaners include built-in Backup & Restore centre thatlets you recover from an unforeseen situation by simply restoring the state ofyour registry.
Faulty RAM
Your computer freezes due to problemswith the computer memory. A faulty RAM may result in Blue Screen of Death(BSOD).
In such a case, remove the existing RAM and clean it using a soft cloth. Then, connect it again. The problem may not persist..
Incomplete Installations
Your computer freezes because of a previously failed or incompleteinstallation. An incomplete or failed installation creates junk registryentries and thereby system crashing problem.
Repair the registry entries created by a failed setup and delete the files thatstill remain on your hard disk. Delete the contents of C:\Windows\Temp folder.
Disk Space Allocated by Unnecessary Files
Your computer freezes if the operating system has no adequate free disk spaceto perform its operations. Temporary files, temporary internet files, logfiles, browser cache and other files may occupy a large amount of your diskspace and thus generating runtime errors that crashes your system.
Using Disk Cleaner, delete the junk files from your hard disk. The steps are asbelow:
1. Click Start ' All Programs ' Accessories ' System Tools ' Disk CleanUp. 2. Follow the instructions on your screen
Of course, but it should be a major failure that would make them practically unusable - not your case. You most likely use IE and it's a POS that crashes with regularity when it's encountering a more demanding site. Just use another browser and your problem will go away. Don't forget to scan your pc for malware before.
Pardon me, but NO! The statement, "two things are responsible for booting up computer RAM and Hard Drive" is simply not true.
A hard drive crash COULD cause the symptoms you describe, but that is more indicative of a virus infection. When you say the XP reinstallation disk would not start it exactly how did you use that disk? Attempt to use the repair console? Boot directly from the disk? Attempt reinstallation of the whole operating system? If you attempted reinstallation, do you also have the specific drivers for all of the components E-Machines used when they built your computer (you will need at least some of them.)
Post again with some more details about how you used the reinstallation disk.
Your hard drive is probably crashing or has crashed. You need to start your computer with an XP CD and try to use the repair function. You'll be able to tell if the hard drive is still working or not once you run the repair function. Let me know what happens or if you run into any problems.
