My Amana Distinctions top load washer was working fine about an hour ago, and now it wont hold water. the water drains into the tank and right out the drain hose. it's a non stop retarded cycle. any suggestions?
The drain needs to be above the actual water level or it will run out, the pvc should be above this point in order for the hose to get air and not act like trap and run out all that comes in,< woud suggest going to hardware store and getting piece to add on to 4 inch section with a coupler and washer drain cap>. they will cut to length, < take measurement of pipe size and length needed to get just bellow height of washer top, pvc goes together by cleaning and glueing, if the 4 inch piece has angle cut then it will have to be cut to strait line for good seal.

The PVC pipe for the drain is about 4 inches from the ground. The hose coming out of the washer is about 4 inches as well. the hose right now comes up a few feet and back down to the drain which runs to the basement. the washer is in my kitchen which is the first floor. all the pipes below slope down where they patch into the main drain for the house.
thank you so much!
How high is disharge hose from the floor? if the drain hose is below water level it will drain out due to gravity.if it is in lower part of house and line is air tight to drain pipe it can vacume the water from unit when running water above level of washer. if this is case I can offer some ideas.
