I gave a solution already, but do not see it listed in my user account. Forgive me if I post this twice;

A Voltage Regulator Module isn't used on an MSI G31M3-L V2 motherboard. No separate module.
It is now incorporated into the Motherboard Voltage Regulator Circuit, for the motherboard.

(Unless your problem doesn't deal with an MSI G31M3-L V2 mobo, AND you are referring to an older motherboard, or server motherboard that Does)

You need to follow the circuit traces (Signal Traces) on the motherboard, and see where they lead from the Power MOSFET Source pins.
See which electronic component has failed in the circuit.

You know Electrolytic Capacitors (Radial Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors), are used in the motherboard voltage regulator circuit.
They ARE the weakest link.

Think what happens if some are used in a Series circuit, and one of them goes bad?
Just like the old Christmas tree lights.
