This problems very common on DLP Tvs.This problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.Colors lines R,G,B mis alignment,have colors shadows or 3D pictures.The tv convergence board is dead.Require to be replaced on the tv convergence board 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors to solved the tv convergence board problems,to solved tv convergence picture problems.The shop,will cost about $300-350 for parts and labors.

Its nice to save money but unless you know what you are doing and have the right soldering equipment its best to leave this to a pro. you can open your tv and inside there are two large ics labeled STK 392-xxx those are where the problem is , however with sony tvs there are fuses that need to be replaced and possibly some resistors,. have a tv shop repair your tv. Defective convergence ic's along with bias resistors. Estimated repair is 250-350 for a service company.

Well repair of TV depends on your own skills and if you have any experience of electronics stuff repair then it would not be difficult. This kind of repair requires good parts soldering in PCB expertise.

Your Sony KP-51HW40 seems have problem with convergence out ICs (two ICs) that would be replaced. Both ICs STK392-560 are located on D Board and available in Part Store.

Replacing the Convergence ICs should fix the problem. They are located on the Deflection board. Sony has used a couple of different ones over the years I think they are STK-392-120's but please do not hold me to it.

You need to replace two convergence out ICs STK392-560 in D board of TV.
Above said ICs are available in Parts Store.

replace the two convergence ICs and a couple 3.5 amp pico fuses. You need STK 392-560 convergence ICs. You can get replacment ICs and pico fuses at the following link. with free instalation instructions with pictures.

dont touch those lenses that is not your problem the problem is your convergance ic are bad replace them and the fuses and this will fix your problem

How do we adjust convergence? I went to the service menu and all I see is alot of settings none of which help me out.

Can anyone explain this in further detail?

red convergence went haywire... you need to relace I'm thinking two convergence ICs mounted on heatsink on convergence panel. replace both for usually they both blow replace any burnt resitors too, and hardest of all now you need to reconverge the whole thing.....which is a fine art.....u might be able to do it with the remote ...but u need a manual to go throught the steps really ..but not me i do em in my sleep. take it to shop unless your technical.
