SOURCE: brushes not going round

The brushes on my dyson have stopped going round. I have checked it and they move freely by hand. The belt is intact. What could the problem be? The Hoover is about 10 to 12 years old.
My dyson is a dc04

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
One of the main problems with vacuums are that the flat belts on the vacuums stretch and should be changed every 4 to 6 months or 3 or 4 times a year – you can tell by taking off the belt or belts on the vacuums and compare them to the old belts on the vacuum the new belts will fix inside of the old belts and you will be able to see the difference on how much they have stretched – if the belt is a geared belt – they stretch as well but should be changed about one a year – the cost is not that expensive and you cleaning will improve almost double – this also applies for the Dyson DC04 and the Hoover vacuum as well – some of the Hoover vacuums have two (2) belts and they both should be changed @ the same time.

SOURCE: brushes wont go round on my dyson?

This is most likely a problem with the belt. Try spinning the brushroll around. If it spins freely, you have a broken belt. Those are pretty easy to repair and you can get the parts at evacuumstore.com

Make brushes turn - band is intact but not turning the brushes

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Are you able to confirm whether your DC07 includes the brush control feature or not? The brush control would be a round dial on the cleaner head which allows you to turn off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors or delicate rugs.
    make-brushes-turn-band-intact-but-not-lwqyc41qlbnwv0kthpkl2aqr-3-0.jpg

If your DC07 does include brush control, make sure that when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and reclined, the brush control is set to 'Carpets'. The brush bar will never rotate when the brush control is set to 'Hard floors', or when the machine is standing in the upright position.

If you're confident your machine is already set correctly but the brush bar is still not rotating, or if your DC07 is a version which doesn't include the brush control feature, we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance.

I'd encourage you to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call when you have your DC07 easily to hand so we can take you though some simple troubleshooting checks. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do i remove the brush bar?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

It's quick and easy to remove the brush bar from DC23's turbine head - there are two round catches to turn, and a slider catch to undo:

Once you've removed the soleplate, the two brush bar sections pull out. You can then check the Turbine head for blockages, and carefully cut away any threads or hair taking care not to damage the bristle tufts.

I hope this helps. If you'd like any further advice on using or maintaining your DC23, just give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Ive got power and suction but the brush bar is not going round

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The advice on resolving this issue would depend on which model (DC--) of Dyson vacuum you own, which you haven't mentioned in your question. We're happy to help but we would need to take some further information about your machine, before talking you though some simple troubleshooting checks to help get the brush bar up and running again.

So we can help as efficiently as possible, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call when you have your machine easily to hand. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

How do I reset my dyson dc25

You may need a new belt if the brush bar motor is working properly. It could be the switch or brush bar motor if the motor does not run .

Brush roller will not rotate on Dyson dc04 absolute

The brush will not rotate when the machine is upright. The brush only rotates when it is reclined; in use.
On the side of the housing where you place your foot to recline it is a round knob. Turn it one click clockwise if you can; to the "auto" position.
If the brush doesn't turn then when the machine is reclined, it needs attention to the belt and/or clutch mechanism.
