Service code SC 548 on a Ricoh Aficio SPC 811dn printer, what is it and how to correct?

some potentially useful information can be found here: what the error codes mean, and the services manual; (I have pointed to error code 792 but the others are different pages), there is a copy of the service manual too. This is only a starting point !

Consult the owner's manual troubleshooting section. Search the internet for:

Make + Model + the words "SC 315"

sc 548- service call - fusing unit not set properly
the fusing unit connector may be loose.
u can reset the error by entering the service mode (careful -do not change anything )
to enter the service mode press [all clear](yellow button) ,[1],[0],[7],[clear](orange button)and keep the button pressed for about 5 sec.
go in copier options , then mode 5, then option 810
and execute(or 1 & ok)

(careful -do not change anything else)

Press the UP and DOWN arrow keys together for 5 seconds or more, and then press the OK key.

SC548: Fusing unit installation error - Definition - [A]
The machine cannot detect the fusing unit when the front cover and right cover
are closed.
- Possible causes -· Fusing unit is not installed
· Poor fusing unit connection


check the 2 sensors on the left hand side of the copier (as you look at where the fuser is located). These get knocked & moved out of postion,
this sc 548 usually happens when paper jam occurs and user does not properly fit the fuser... also not fiitted properly due to some foreign object in between fusing belt and the sensor...
Enter SP 5810 (SC code reset), select “Execute”, select “close”, exit SP mode then turn main power switch off and on.
to enter SP mode press yellow C button press 1 0 7 on numeric keypad and then hold down the orange C button from the menu select copier SP then type in 5801 and press # selest execute then power off and back on. Your machine should now be working. Hope this helps. if this doesnt solve ur problem then try contacting ur ricoh service tech

The SC 548 error usually occcurs in the fuser section when it ahas been reset incorrectly the drive and gears are not locking properly or the sensor has not registered the fuser correctly I would look in these areas check the seating of the fuser you can reset this in the modes with 5-810 sc reset then turn off.

You have a problem with your fuser - either an overheat, or lack of heat. Can only be reset by technician in a service mode, once it is fixed
