Assuming you have not got the fx1/2 to mon turned right down it would seem likely that this has failed which would be about the only thing that would stop fx to mon if all else is working. You do not describe the distortion to the mains but if it is related to the fx then this would point to the same thing, a failed pot probably. These are a total nightmare to replace although the part is dirt cheap. Allow your self several hours if you think it is worthwhile. Behringer (and some other) mixers are now made in such a way as to be almost unrepairable using a single smt board that requires total disassembly of the unit to replace even wearing parts (excluded by the warranty). I would suggest replacing the mixer with a new one or a decent second hand one.

With the AB switch at the center position Mon1/Main you control the volumes INDIVIDUALLY with the MON pot for each input that is a couple positions above each of the input sliders.

SOURCE: How can a PMP 2000

No you can't quite do this since the EQ's are right before the power amps in the signal flow. The monitor output would drive two 8 ohm speakers daisy chained at roughly 300 watts RMS... I can't imagine needing more than that for a venue that is within the capabilities of this unit.
You can drive both power amps by the monitor output by setting the mon/main function on the switch and using a short TRS cable jumper between MONITOR PREAMP OUT and the RIGHT POWER AMP INPUT jack. Drive your mains from the LEFT PREAMP OUT. The EQ's will ONLY affect the monitors. Use an external EQ if you need to EQ the mains with this connnection. Use TRS balanced cables to the main amp and CONNECT all interconnected equipment to the SAME power source or receptacle, even if it means running an extension to the mixer.

Try plugging in a set of headphones into each of the mon left and right. If the monitor sliders are up AND the channel monitor knobs are up you should be able to hear in ONE SIDE only of the headphones. If not, then you may have failed to power your monitor amp or speakers from the SAME receptacle as the mixer and this can result in ground bouncein building wiring that will blow out the driver chips for the mon signals.

On that model, if you are going to use the onboard amps for both mains and monitors, be sure you set the switch for MON 1/ MAIN. Then for some reason, Behringer decided that output A would be for monitors, and output B would be FOH (Mains). This is opposite of the way I normally run left/right, but it's their company. Also, the Mono fader on the far right will control your FOH, not the Mains fader. Hope this helps.

I have a Behringer PMP5000, after a gig, I accidentlly plugged the outputs from an external power amp, into the monitor sends and powered up the unit. After I realized what I did, I powered down, corrected...

Yes, you blew out components associated with the monitor sends. There are several components including an RF bypass to ground and the driver IC, IC8 and a decoupling electrolytic cap. The repair is going to be extensive as it is likely you will have to remove ALL the panel knobs and screws to free up the circuit board for repair. I have worked on several mixers and have three of the PMP5000's myself and dread removing the main board. I am going to suggest something you might consider: Many of the PMP's fail either in their power supply or one of the amps. Due to the repair cost I would consider getting a scrap PMP with this problem and swapping out the panelboard for yours. Often you can get one with blown supply or power amp for around $200 and I suspect a repair shop is going to charge at least that to repair your unit... Then you will have a spare parts bucket as well.

The MON faders ONLY control the output to the MON L and MON R jacks, NOT the split use of MAIN/MON outputs. You MIGHT try varying the MONO fader and see if it varies the MON part of the split output.
Best to use the unit as MAIN L and R to main speakers and use a stereo amp or POWERED monitors driven from the MON L and R jacks. With this, the MON faders will control your monitors as you would like them to.
ALSO make sure ALL equipment connected together is powered from teh same recepacle power system. Powering interconnected equipment from receptacles at opposite ends of the room is asking for damage due to ground bounce and faults.
PLEASE read my tip on here about a HAZARD of speaker polarity if you use Speakon to 1/4 inch cables.

I'm not satisfied with the built in effects of my PMP 5000. Can I hook up an external effect and if so,how.

Depending on whether you want the external effects to be on everything or just a single mic input, you connect them to the power amp "insert" or the insert for the mic you want it on.

Looping it out on multiple mics would be tricky, but you could send the units effects into one of the monitor outputs only by selecting a "non-effects" setting in the unit and sending internal effects to one of the monitor outs, and then looping it back into another input to join the mix.

Hi, We have recently purchased a Behringer PMP6000/VP1220/VP1220F PA package we have a pair of speckon to 1/4 TS connectors and a pair of 1/4 TS to 1/4 TS connector cables we have the mains on tripods and...

Please read a tip I just posted regarding a hazard of the Speakon to 1/4 inch cables when used with these PMP mixers.

If you are using your main speakers as stereo, then you will need either powered monitor speakers OR an additional seperate amp for them. The mon outputs on the mixer are LINE LEVEL and are not driven by a power amp. Use TRS (balanced) interconnect cables from these to POWERED monitor speakers.

You can parallel your two mains providing the parallel impedance is 4 ohms or greater (two 8 ohms in parallel at most). The the monitor speakers can be paralleled and the switch set to Main/Mon so that one side of the power amp drives the mains and the other drives the monitors.

To prevent damage to the mixer, make sure all speaker leads are secure before powering the system. Run the speaker leads through the handles of the speakers to prevent inadvertent unplugging due to personell tripping over cables.

DO NOT use the bridge mode in your use.

I have a pmp 5000 and i cannot get any volume from my monitors what do i need to plug them in to and how do i turn up the volume

Assuming you are using BOTH power channels for your main speakers, you MUST use external, additional, amplifiers for the monitors. There are ONLY two power amps in the PMP5000.

The other option is to run mono for the mains and use the second power amp (comes out on the Speakon connectors) to drive the monitors. For this, the little slide switch has to be on the middle position.

Doing this, you have to adjust the monitor volume controls for each strip.
