I just got off the phone with a GE rep, they said to unplug all phones from the wall for 15 minutes, then remove the batteries and put them back in the opposite way they came out. That will reset the system and fix the problem.
If it does not fix it, you'd need to purchase new phones.
The additional handset and the base need to "pair" first. Put the handset in the base cradle till you see the red light blinking. That's when they are paired.
There is no way to have 2 phones in use at the same time- unlike different models of phones you may have had-like a ge in the kitchen and rca in family room-they do not conflict the signal-these are all on the same channel and will not share the connection from the base.
I have changed my phones in the bases and it
fixed this problem, you also need to make sure it is charged up well. I have problems with the volume even on # 4. Don't you?
