There is also a Vs adjustment on the y sustain board that you just installed.. Often the y sustain boards are adjusted by the factory to be calibrated to the buffer boards. Before making any adjustment on a Vo or Vs or other variable resistor mark its original position with a sharpy. There are 5 possible adjustments on the y sustain board. A specific combination of these 5 adjustments can adjust the screen for any set. Again always mark the initial position!
The 5 positions on your specific board are marked as follows:
(VSET_UP) at VR22
(VSET_DN) at VR2
(RAMP_UP) at VR51
The last two are located on a set of small perpendicularly protruding boards near the bottom of the y sustain.
The boards are listed as:
PS101 (-Vy)
PS102 (+VSC)
If I recall correctly it is one of these two adjustments on the (-Vy) or (+VSC) that will take care of the red polarization you are speaking of. These can be adjusted while the TV is running but be extremely careful of shorting components or injuring yourself.
I don't suggest making these adjustments yourself unless your are familiar with safety measures involving high voltage electronics.

Try to adjust the Vs voltage on the power supply by lower it a little bit or increase it a little bit. It will help to decrease the red pixel flashing.

Vizio p50hdm loud pop from inside tv now screen is dim

Hi there! This could be as a result of several boards. Y-sus, Z-Sus or power supply. One would need to check that all the relevant Voltages on the power supply are actually present. Next would be to check the Fuses on either Y or Z-Sus boards. The board with the fuse blown would most likely be the one at fault. However it blows for a reason so replacing the fuse on these boards will probably not help. But it is worth a shot. If all else fails refer to a repairer. If you can get the boards and want to try doing it yourself it may or may not prove to be successful. Please beware of HIGH CURRENT before you proceed. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004

Vizio closed captions are with red background! Dish TV or Vizio problem?? Also red pixel lines/flashes!

It is a TV problem and could be the sustain boards or the mainboard.

Most likely it is the Y sustain board but it is recomended to replace Y and Z sustain boards if one is damaged.

Adj the VS and VA voltages to he se on the back of the panel. There are a couple controls tward the botton of these boards . You can play with these to minimise the red dots. Also the VS and VA voltages can be lowered slightly . this may help.

replace the sustainer boards should correct this problem. New sustainer boards may cause red and green pixilation. If this happen, replace control board and TV is as good as new.

Vizio P50HDM is dead

Measure the -Vy and Vsc on the Y Sus board. If there are no voltage reading then you have to replace both of them.

Hope this will help!

Vizio P50HDM

Dan, The they are actually called Z sus and Y sus boards.. They are the 2 boards that are on the direct right and direct left of the panal at the connections. You can find the replacement boards on ebay pretty cheap.. However most of the time all it is is a blown cap. Worst case its a blown fet, but if your good with a meter, you can find the problem in about 5min and replace the defective components and be back on your feet for less than $10. This is all high voltage stuff, so somtimes components fail due to mass production and toleranace.

Original problem ...

There are two additional Y Sustainer supporting Boards called the Upper and Lower Y Boards in the P50HDM that can also be replaced at the time of the Z and Y Replacement. There part numbers are: 6871QDH088A and 6871QDH089A. Although some techies prefer to replace them at the same time as the main Z & Y Boards you won't know if they are the problem unless you still have problems after the Z &Y are replaced at the same time. Since these are much cheaper than the Z & Y (about $50 each) that should take care of the blinking.

It sounds like you don't have the dreaded problem of busted panels otherwise you wouldn't have a picture at all. these boards are actually pretty cheap unlike the Z and Y which are a bit more expensive. It’s also popular to add two additional CPU fans to the unit for additional cooling. Apparently the POD (Pop of Death) has something to do with the main Z and Y overheating. To add additional CPU Fans, which are also pretty cheap, you’ll need a 3 Pin Y-Splitter (M-F) for the extra plugs to connect to the additional fans but be sure to purchase a super quiet fans since the additional fans will be running along with the two 5 inch super quiet fans that came with the unit.
