SOURCE: What needs to be removed from my Yamaha YPG-625 to

DO NOT open the case unless you are aware of and comfortable with the fact that you could _destroy_ your piano. Easily.

Observe appropriate anti-static precautions. It should go without saying that this is an electronic repair, and dangerous voltages may exist inside the case.

1. Remove the stand if you have one
2. Lay the keyboard upside down (bottom up) on workbench
3. Remove all 90+ screws from the bottom of the chassis, including the 14 inside the speaker compartments
4. Carefully lift up on the bottom case part, taking not to damage the speaker lines
5. Unplug speaker connector and set lower case aside
6. LCD is mounted beneath main logic board
9in the center), my problem lies elsewhere, but competent and cautious service technique should lead you where you need. I would strongly recommend replacing the LCD assembly module, unless you are experienced in LCD repair.

It is a lot of work to open and access the key contacts. Here is your service manual:

YPG625 Humity problem

The overal sound of yamaha YPG 625 and keys operation are exellent by the price. The only problem I eperienced is the instrument operation under high humidity environment. Under this condition many keys sound loud over others, furter more with no expectation from mucisian. This problems is normal for that model because the music store change my previously YPG625 for the same problem

Sometime I solve the problem to located the instrument under sun exposure and cover the keys and display to avoid direc sun exposure.

Another is apply with a hair dryers over the keys. But is very disconform situation, and I dont know if the Yamaha exposed this isntrument under high humidity environment durig the product test. I has a Ymaha very low budged digital piano and Roland controller A33 in the same condition and never eperience problems, only with this model.

Middle D key apparently was jarred loose in transport. It is sticking up and won't return to its original position, and playing the key produces no sound.

Call Yamaha at 714-522-9000 and ask for a tech who works in your area. Attempting self repair could void any garuntee that is covering the problem.

Rhythm accompaniment does not play. Start button flashes 3 green then 1 red. Began when someone randomly pushed number buttons on the key pad.

Do an initialization (factory reset) by holding the HIGHEST WHITE key down and turning on the power. Hold the key for an extended time until display confirms initialization complete. This will restore unit to factory defaults.

I have a Roland Plus 70 electric piano (1982 era). A number of black and white keys have stopped working, from the left, white key 10 through to 16 and black keys 7 to 12. Initially, turning the power...

The key contacts have gotten dirty or worn. Most Roland keyboards use conductive rubber contacts that are pressed against circuit traces underneath the keys. These can often be cleeaned to restore operation, but this is not a DIY type project. The cost of repair probably exceeds the value sorry to say and parts may not be availablle... In this case I would probably recommend you get a newer unit as they have many decent synths now for a little over $100 and repair would likely be several times that. Also look at the used market and MANY thrift stores have units... make sure you test any for operation before buying. If one can afford $250, here is a candidate with 76 keys:

I have a Yamaha YPG-525. Everything is working except the LCD screen. It turns on, but doesn't display anything... I had this problem once before when I didn't use the keyboard for a while, but it ended...

I have the same problem, mine is Yamaha YPG-625. This seems to be a common problem with Yamaha keyboards. I opened the 100 screws in the back, separated the main board from the display unit which is under it if you flip the keyboard upside down, to verify if there was any loose wires, nothing of the sort.
It is so frustrating, the keyboard is working fine but it is hard to navigate because the display is not functioning. Yamaha should do a recall as this is obviously something wrong with the keyboard happenning to a lot of people
