Kenwood kvt512- IPOD hookup not working...wont work in usb either

I just bought a kvt512 and i am unable to use my ipod with it...i tried just hooking it up usb way and it just says device disconnected...i even tried doing something with the other 2 ipod wires in the back and still nothing...

    i have the same problem. the ipod indicates it's charging thus it's powered by the stereo but the stereo will not recognize the ipod

    i am also having the same problem. the guy who installs the stereos at best buy said i needed to do a software upgrade? i can't seem to find the upgrade software in the kenwood web page.

    no burn it on a cd or dvd just file alone no folder hope it works my kvt-512 wont upgrade

    What program did You use to burn? I can't get mine to read when I burn the file with windows. I used both a DVD-r and a cd-r

make sure that you have updated the kenwood to the latest software for the ipod--at kenwoods site--What cable are you using to hook up to the kenwood, hope you are not using the usb cable cause that won't work , you have to have a KCA-Ip301V ipod video cable. you need to purchase the ipod cable... your ipod is connected through the usb cable which does not provide sound to the unit but everything else works

usualy means the ipod, or the software in the ipod is not compatable with the kenwood. easiest way to check, is to find someone with a new model ipod and plug it in, if it works, the problem is with your ipod, not the kenwood. If you go online and download the most recent software to your Ipod, this may fix it. If you don't know how to do this, take your Ipod to Best buy, they will download the newest software to your Ipod fairly cheap.

Did you buy the adapter for the ipod and are not just hooking it up directly through usb. It sounds like their may not be the correct adapter attached. The adapter comes with plug for the ipod on one end, and a usb, audio, and video plug on the other end. Without that you will not see anything on the screen due to not having the correct cable to display the video portion.

Are you trying to hookup thru USB? Unless its ipod compatible it wont work (and its not). Your only choice is to buy an RCA to mini headphone cable and play it thru the input of your choice.
