I'm working on z225 now the fuel pump gets the its vacuum from the crank case for it to pump gas these have a crank case breath hose under the mag to keep it from building up pressure let's the motor breath if this is stopped up it will pull the air it needs through the valve breath hose that runs to the crab while letting the mother breath its not as big as the crank case breathing hose and builds up pressure and pushes oil into the fuel pump pull the crank case hose off and check for oil if thiers oil in it check under the mag fine dirt grass gets under their i hope this helps
Either head gaskets or valve adjustments needed. Valve adjustment maybe the problem.

Both can cause problems. It is recommend that you do not go on a grade more the 10% for your safety and the safety for others around. But if the valve cover is leaking this can lead to major problems if not repaired on a timely matter

The reason the oil is getting into the air filter is that it is blowing by the piston rings. My suggestion is that you have stuck piston rings or severe wear in the piston and cylinder. You need to pull the head and see if you can tell about the wear or the condition of the rings. Pulling the head is not hard but knowing what you are looking at or knowing what you see when you get to that point is a different matter. I think you nrre to take it to a good shop.
As a last resort you might just consider running it without an air filter and see what happens.

SOURCE: John Deere Gx75, kawasaki 9hp motor- oil in carb!
A very common problem with the GX series with Kawasaki engines. The carburetor 'inlet needle' sticks open and fills the crankcase with fuel. When checking the oil, it can be difficult to see the gasoline and the level appears to be OK. Remove the dipstick and smell the oil, you may detect a gasoline smell. Also, drain the oil, and you may find much more fluid than you expect.
The solution on newer mowers was to install an 'in-line' shut-off valve to keep the fuel from syphoning into the carburetor. The inlet needle and seat in the carburetor is NOT replaceable, so a new carburetor is the ultimate solution, but VERY expensive. Installing and using an in-line shut-off valve is more affordable.
Also, this situation is common when machine is transported on a trailer, as the bouncing causes the needle/seat to leak. When transporting, always turn off the fuel supply to the carburetor.

make sure you have the correct amount of oil in it and that its not overfull. after that replace the points and condenser underneath the flywheel that is underneath the shround on the top of the motor. make sure the points are gauged right. you can buy a manual for biggs and straton that will tell u what to gauge the points at. you will need "feeler gauges" to re-gauge the points. they are a little set of gauges that are really thin pieces of spring metal.

Could be serious, such as a broken ring or valve issue. Also, could be relatively minor. Might have gas seeping into the crankcase. How full was the oil when checked? Did it look like it was thin and runny, like diluted with gas? If so, change it and put the correct amount of oil in the engine. Run some fuel line cleaner, such as gumout or SeaFoam in the gas tank (about 1/4 cup). That may help the issue of the gas flowing thru the carb and into the crankcase.
