Exactly the same problem - TV is stuck in standby mode. Clicking but doesn't turn on, just goes momentarily to green, then amber then back to red (standby)...

my tv will not some on it flashes green for a couple of seconds and then the red stand by light comes on. Two days ago I tried it again and it actually came on but after I turned it off it has not come back on sense. I can't find my receipt and even if I could it's been a little less than 6 months since I purchased it so the warranty will not pay for it. Does anyone know what is going on with these tv's?

This sounds like a common fault with the LG 50PX4D yet my set is only 2.5 years old. What have you lot done to rectify this problem?

I have a 51inch LG TV and never had a problem I turned it off as normal and then tried to turn it on a while later and nothing I only got a red solid stand-by light it don't flash when press side buttons...

Try following the steps below.
Step 1
Press the power button once. If the TV does not turn on, observe the LED indicator, usually located on the TV's lower front panel. If the LED indicator turned off after you pressed the power button once, it is in standby mode. Press the power button once again to exit standby and turn on the TV.

Step 2
Observe the Standby light if the remote control will not work. If the Standby light stays on, the television is in Standby mode. Press the power button on the television, then try to use the remote.

Step 3
Turn the Energy Saving Switch off, then press the power button. The Energy Saving Switch is located on the rear or side panel on most Sony model TVs. Refer to your TV user manual for the exact location of the switch.

Standby light changes from red to green

hi this fault could be down to capacitor in the power supply, they bulge or go leaky, you need to take the back off the tv, to have a look. try and find a tv tech in your area hope it helps

No standby light

No standby light means not power function. Its SMPS power supply section has the fault. It should be replaced. If you wish to get more details, check this site. Pull up older posts there.

I rescanned the channels after our area has gone digital and this went OK but now the TV won't come on and the standby light just keeps fashing as though its trying to come on. I left it all last night...

You did the opposite of what might be useful. Completely cut of it's AC supply, pull the plug out of the socket and leave it like that for 10 minutes.
Plug back in but first making sure the manual power button is off on the set, not in standby mode.
(pushed in)
Then push the manual button to restore standby mode and switch set into full on mode with the remote.
It will either have "rebooted" and work straight away or you'll need to put it into Auto Set Up mode.
Proceed as the first sections relevant from the instructions.
