My Hotpoint TVM570P is making a dreadful noise. Looked inside and cant decide if it is the drum bearing or motor bearing. When i spin the motor or drum separately without the belt on, they both seem to spin smoothly. If i put load on the drum shaft there is some noise but not as bad as when it is running. Any clues?

Get a piece of hose and listen to each bearing. The hose should help isolate the problem.

SOURCE: dryer makes loud squeaking noise when spinning

there are two possibilities for this question. 1) there is an idler roller that give the belt the correct tension . unplug dryer and remove idler roller see if it spins freely if not replace it @0 there are two drum rollers in back of machine thatdrum rides on remove drum it's self explanitory how to remove drum and very easy also. you can roll these wheels and check for free movement visually check them ,one or both should be worn out or the bearing in the wheel has failed before putting old or new wheels back sand the wheel shafts to get any gunk off them and that's about the only thing that can make a dryer squeek

SOURCE: Belt Not Tight

The belt gets tight when you press the pulley arm down place the belt over the outer edge of the pulley and then over the motor axis. The belt then runs like in a "eight". Christian

Smoke coming from inside drum after spin cycle

The noise would possibly indicate that your drum bearings are on their way out, this would more than likely mean a new spider assembly, tripod in shape and houses the bearings through the drum, as well. They come in kits or bearing assembly alone for various prices, usually around 40 pounds for the kit but it would be a very difficult job if you are not familiar with this type of work, bearing extractor kits are best used but more cost, drum seals may also be needed.

Hotpoint Aquarius 1000 WM62 The drum makes a screeching noise when turning ? Any ideas ?

it could be drum bearings or even some thing that has got past the inner drum and is jamed inside hitting the drum when it turns,,,,could also be the motor bearings,,,,open the door and try lifting the inner drum up,,if there is any lift in it then the drum bearings are going,,this will also cause it to screem on spin speed

Final spinning cycle makes very loud noise.

sounds like you have the dreaded bad tub bearings. Does it sound like an aircraft taking off? Open the door and lift the drum and see if you feel any play.
I don't know your technical ability, but you can match up bearings and a seal and repair it ( frigidare will only sell you the complete drum with bearings) but its a big job as appliance work goes. You will have to decide how to proceed from there as far as fixing it or buying a new one.

Noise when agitateing wash only

Remove the belt, and spin drum by hand from inside, there should be little or no noise, if there is then it is possible the drum bearings are failing.
I f no noise, but there is when you put belt back on, then possibly bearing in motor noisy

Aquarius 1100 wm63 very noisy spinning

Remove rear cover of washer.
Remove drive belt.
From inside the drum, spin the drum by hand, if it is noisy or feels rough, then main drum bearings have failed.
If no noise, then possibly motor bearings noisy.
Hope this helps Thankyou.

Hotpoint WF220P has become very noisy during spin, especially at high revs. Can it be worn brushes or motor, or bearings? Otherwise all is OK.

Remove drive belt, and spin drum by hand, if it feels rough or noisy, then the main drum bearings are worn.
If no noise from drum, could be a motor prob.

My Hotpoint WD860 makes a dreadful noise when it spins, but fine at all other times, any idea's?

Just put some grease at the bearings of the drum. This will correct the noise. However, if it persist, your bearing may need replacement.

Loud banging

Several possibilities for noise. check concrete balance wieghts at top and bottom of washer, make sure they are not loose.
Check drum restraint spring(s) are not broken.
Check suspension legs for wear.
Check for loose motor fixings.
Finally, remove drum belt, and spin drum by hand, tjhere should be noise from bearings, if it feels rough or is rumbling , then main bearings have failed.
Please rate my comments.
Thanks.
