LCD Monitor Acer AL1717 shtting down problem

Try updating your display driver and also try with another monitor cable, in case its broken.

bsellers, Tell me in "seconds", "minutes", how long is "so long". Do you even see the "boot screen" pop-up when booting the pc? You should see that first if lcd monitor is turned on first. Are you running a Windows OS? Will a "known-good" VGA monitor work ok when connected to your PC?? Will your AL1717 do same thing when connected to different "known-good" PC?? Did you even look at the "date of manufacture" on the rear of your monitor? Retrevo .com lists 1717 as time to retire??? Was your unit produced in "06" or "07"?? It means there is no compatible signal going to the monitor check connections and video card

Try hooking an external monitor. If it will still show on the other display, possibly it is a video card problem. But I highly doubt it. Usually for this issue, it will have a good display on an external monitor. Try if it will still appear n the BIOS page. Press F2 several times immediately after turning the computer on. If problem still shows there, then it is the LCD that is causing it to happen. You need to replace the LCD.

This is 2005 model year, it is due time to check for capacitors with bulging top/seal, leakage in the power supply. See example of failed monitors as a guide here so you know what to look for:

Your resoulutions are Hz are too high in the game settings for your monitor. Reinstall your game.

That could be electrical interference, from your computer, or from the speakers, or from the AC power-adapter for your speakers, or from the AC power-adapter connected to an external hard-drive.

While the monitor is on, lift it away from everything, as far as the power and data cables will allow, to see if the "herring-bone" vanishes.

Also, try a different "data" cable between the monitor and your computer. Or, just disconnect the cable, switch it end-for-end, and reconnect it.

as saferi1 have stated you can try your cpu with another monitor so as to be sure.The problem is similar to the one i saw on the horizontal out put check that area.
