Extreme White Glowing

I have a Phillips 60", model 60PP936H/17, that has an extemely over powering white glow around everything. I have tried useing the factory settings but they are either too dark or lack detail. When I did the custom color settings, I got the detail and quality I was looking for, but now I have an extreme white glow around things, especially if I am watching sports, it looks like the players have white aura's around them. I was hoping you may be able to provide some tips of getting the quality I want without the glow. Thanks - Duchalmatt

Hi

Sure it cab be fixed. but first of all do you see your image even without the light as the tube is not glowing? if yes then try to change it with all White LEDs as the white LEDs are available in form of strips now a days. You can uses this to make the LCD glow once applied power to the LEDs they workout cheap and also very less power consumption.

White glow around dark objects
This is a common problem. Its called a convergence failure.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

  • Screen Looks 3D
  • Colors wont align
  • Video may look distorted
Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms
  • Dull looking video
  • White looking video
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking video

MP3 player went through washing machine
hi thanks for using fixya!

The first thing you should do is not to turn the power on of the player, once it was soaked or wet very hardly, you must let it dry first before turning the power on, to avoid short circuit. In your case, we are not sure if its going to work again, but let it dry properly, but if its too late, and won't work again, maybe it is time to buy a new one, and start to be more careful! good luck!

If the screen is glowing white, then you can try reseating the flex cable at the lcd.

Here is a guide on how to do that.

Phillips 60" Changing STK392-120 Removing board Model#60PP936H/17
Typicaly you can remove the SSB board on the left without having to remove the flyback wires. If however you are trying to remove the entire deck all at once you will need to remove the flyback wires as indicated. 

You do not need to use needle nose pliers. Goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and click on the "Tips" menu. Under that section you will see instuctions on how to remove the HVG/flyback wires.

Oven won't work
that apart that glows red hot is probably bad, most likely bad. it should glow white hot and ignite the oven in under 1 min form time it starts glowing, part number 12400035 should help you out comes with everything you need, including instructions

this is the fault of your lcd screen
it could be your screen jack is loose or damage white screen is coming due to back light is glowing only.it is better to take to some technician or service center.
