I have a hitachi ultravision directors series 42hdx99. the set is about 6 years old. I can not get the set to turn on. The master power switch works. When I push it there are a brief series of clicks and the high pitched powering up sound, the red light illuminates. then I push the power button on my cable tv remote. the cable tv remote is programed to power the tv thru the IR receiver. At this point the red light is supposed to turn blue, and it does not. The tv stays black. any help? Thanks.

SOURCE: power light blinks red, TV doesn't turn on

if you are not technical i sugest you have this checked out by a professional most probably a fuse has gone from iside or your driver board has gone down. The blinking should be normal after you have turneds it off because some capacitors will be discharging.

SOURCE: LG 60PC1D making clicking sounds

Hi
A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this helps

Hitachi ultravision is hot, to the touch, Is there concern?

I've owned a 42HDX99 since 2007, It's always been warm/hot. Still works/looks Awesome. Plasmas do generally run hotter than
LCD/LED's. Also have a 58" Samsung Plasma ( which I've had to repair ) and a 2009 Toshiba 1080P LCD ( still works great )

Put new bulb in hitachi ultravision dlp tv and lamp light flashes and tv will not turn on. Have reinstalled old build and works fine. Is there any type of reset that needs to be set. New bulb no tv, old...

hey there it sounds like the problem is coming from your ballast board, the ballast board is the power source to the lamp. with time this part starts to wear out and get weak your old lamp is already burning out there for it does not need that much voltage to turn on but the new lamp has not been worn out or used there for it needs the ballast to be working at 100%

hope this solution helps

I have a Hitachi Ultravision Projection TV Model 57XWX20B. My TV will not stay on. I tried unplugging it, then plug it back in. It will then click once to turn on; then after 15 seconds it will turn off. ...

The power source detects an overload on one of its exits and shuts down to protect itself. The tv must be opened and tested by a knowledgeable person who can identify and replace the failed part.

I have a Hitachi Ultravision, 42 in. plazma tv hooked to cable. The cable is working but I cannot turn the TV on.

Hitachi has a master and a slave power button. Like a computer, one switch on the back and a power button on the front. Look near the tv stand for a button or a flap. of even by the menu botton.
