That question cannot be answered as stated. What direction is backwards and what is the pitch of the blades.

The theory now mostly dis-proven is you pull the hot air off the cealing in the winter to help warm the home. The opposit is valid in the summer. The amount of energy used is normally more then what is saved in the AC bill.

Run it with the switch up pushs air toward the ceiling and then down the walls. In heat modes. This reduces wind chill effect while circlating the warmer air near the ceiling. This is especially effective with high ceilings such as 10 foot or greater.

The main reason to use out of your ceiling fans during winter is to reverse the direction that they spin in. If you want to use a ceiling fan to warm a room, it should be spinning in a clockwise direction. For more information please visit: http://www.hover.global/ceiling-fans.html

How to reverse kichler ceiling fan, UC7206T

Stock Kichler ceiling fan c. 2006, works with replacement remote control 337001WH hand-held unit from Amazon 2013. Started running backwards when two remotes were activated at the same time by accident. Random button pushing on two remotes simultaneously got it to go back to forward. (Apparently original remote hand-held transmitter had forward/reverse setting, but the substitute 337001WH transmitter doesn't. When two transmitters run at the same time, the fwd/rev code may be decoded in the collisions at the receiver. Thank goodness!)

Which way does a ceiling fan need to run in winter

Usually most peopledont want drafts on them in winter so making the fan turn with the edge thats turned down then that is the leading edge

IE say you look at the blade from the bottom
next note the blades are tilted you have to determine which way your blades are mounted. The fans may all be the same or some odd ones may be out there.
say looking up at a blade thTAs 12:00 from you
if the edge thats closer to the floor is on the left the fan turns left from 12:00 or Counter-clock wise to make the air blow toward the ceiling away from you. Reverse for cooling so the air blows on you.
This makes the air move upward.
If your ckoser edge is on the opposite side the fan turns opposite..
the edge thats turned down toward you is the direction of travel for winter
In small rooms with larger fan the air may make such a quick change that it feels like it blows on you in either direction.

How to set humidistat for different seasons.

Vick, depending on the season and the humidity level in your home, is what determines the setting. For example, in the winter you want to maintain at least a 40% humidity level in your home. It will feel more comfortable, the heat will feel warmer and it will help keep static electricity at bay. In the Summer, you'll want to remove as much humidity as possible, as this will make the air feel cooler. If you have ceiling fans in you home, run them Clockwise at the highest speed you can tolerate. The more wind chill you generate, the cooler the air will feel and you won't have to set your AC at a lower temperature. Thereby, saving money. In the winter, run the ceiling fans Counterclockwise on the lowest speed. This will take the heat off the ceiling, wash the walls and bring it back down.

Clockwise and Counterclockwise are determined by looking up at the fan blades. Also, reversible ceiling fans have a switch on the side (where the pull chain is located). Generally, switch-up is Counterclockwise and switch down is Clockwise.

Hope this helps you to keep your home comfortable year round.

Should ceiling fans work "forward" or "backward"

During the winter you want the fan to blow downward so that the heat that collects at the ceiling is circulated,

Does the switch to change the direction of the fan need to be up or down to pull warm air down

In the winter you would want the fan turningclockwise and on most ceiling fans it is in the up position. and in the summer you want it in the down position running counter clockwise creating a wind chill effect.

Which way should the fan turn for winter use?

Although there are those who would say otherwise, it really doesn't matter much which way the fan turns regarding summer or winter. It does matter regarding whether you want air blown directly down upon you or sucked up past you toward the ceiling. Some would say that the fan should blow down in the winter, since hot air rises and the fan would blow it back down, but if you think about it, if the fan is blowing air toward the ceiling, the hot air up there has to go somewhere, like down when it reaches the walls. It is, once again, really a matter of what makes you comfortable in summer or winter.
Hope this helps.

Fan direction

I winter it blows up to catch the warm air from the ceiling and bring it down. In summer it blows down to cool you off by evaporation.
