Cannot locate lint trap to fit my wsm2420 sazww washer dryer combo ge parts no will not fit

In the Kenmore equivalent, the lint trap is on the back wall of the interior of the dryer. If GE is the same then you'll see two vents at the back inside, one is the intake (where hot air enters), the other is the outtake, which contains a lint trap. You might have mistaken both for nonremovable vents. But one of them is removable. It should have finger holes or something to grab. Just pull it and it will pop out without difficulty. It's probably a two-piece unit (a grate on the dryer side and a screen on the exhaust side, with a space in between for collecting lint), which snaps or slips apart easily, then you can clear the lint, and then snap or slip it back together and just push it back in place in the dryer.

Ge FRONT LOADER WASHING MACHINE DRAINS TOO FAST AND IT OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE DRAIN PIPE ONTO THE FLOOR. IT HAS 1 5/8" DIAMETER DRAIN PIPE. SOLUTIONS???

Hi,
Yes, the new front loaders do drain much faster...I find that you need to have a 2" drain for them to work properly without over flowing the standpipe.

Now, what can you do??
You can add on to the standpipe and get it up higher, this will do two things... the higher lift will slow down the pump a bit, but will make it work harder and possibly fail quicker...the higher stadpipe will give you a bit more reserve space for the water to collect and then flow down and catchup after the intial burst of flow from the pump. The higher pipe will also create a bit more pressure to push the water down the pipe.

The next and better fix would be to install a bigger standpipe and trap. Go right back the the main line and run a new 2" line and trap to the washer.

I assume that you checked the existing pipe and trap for blockage....but thought I better throw that out there...

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Washer wont drain

Pump him blocked !

Either a coin or a small piece of clothing has got into the pump lines

Drop the drain hose into a bucket to remove the water

Check the lint trap to see if their is anything in the pump which is jamming the impeller

If not you may have to remove the hose from the pump to the drum to check for obstructions

Takes hours to wash a load of towels

Just found out that there is a drain trap that can get clogged and needs regular maintenance. Take out the bottom panel by removing 3 phillips screws (7mm nut driver optional). Unscrew the trap (water will probably drain out so be prepared). Clean out debris. You may also have to remove the hose connected into the trap in extreme clogged cases. Just use pliers to release the hose clamp.
Replace the trap plug, hose (if necessary) and the bottom panel.

Good luck!!!

GE DUET Washer

I also have the same problem. I went to find a new pump for the washer and when I looked at it I found that the pump has a Pea Trap in the front of it. To get to the pump you have to remove the lower front panel which is held in place by 3 screws located on the bottom of the panel. Once removed you will see the pump and notice that there is a small turning nob on the front of it. Just unscrew counter clockwise to remove the Pea trap.

Warning: if your washer has water in it then when you remove the trap it is going to come rushing out, if not then the clog is further back up in the drain hose. I would like to say that you can easily capture the water coming out but it is difficult to do given the design of the pump housing and position.

Clean the trap and hose, reassemble, and it should be good to go.

Always unplug the power when working with electronic equipment, especially when water is envolved.

Will not drain or spin

There is another posted problem similar to this one if you look at GE front-loading washers.  I can tell you right now, though, that we just cleaned the filter (had the same problem as you) and everything is working perfectly now.  The bottom panel (on the front) of your washer comes off by removing 3 screws.  Our filter was full of lint, change, barrettes, etc.  I would highly recommend looking for that other post (has more information) or trying to clean the filter.  Hope this helps!
