Pull out all cartridges and take a flash light, look inside the printer, in the upper-back part you'll see black pins, check if are they clean and embedded, if black pin in even a bit loose, you'r need to solder a new pin on the PCB

An E4 alert shows and says out of black ink but black ink is full.

the print head is not reading the cartridge. Either the print head or cartridge is bad.

try removing the cartridge and wiping the metal conector with a dry cloth and do the same to the print head.

if that doesnt fix it then replace the cartridge, do not refill it. If that doesnt fix it then the print head is bad and most likely it will be cheaper to replace the printer, unless you can do the work yourself.

We have a Pixma MP160 and an MP150 all-in-one printer. We have been using re-cycled cartridges without any problems. Both our printers have just stopped working with 'cartridges not recognised'. When...

Hi

Maybe try cleaning the contacts in the cartridge head to ensure no ink has attached to the pins. Use a cotton bud or something similar and ensure the printer is turned off.

Remanufactured cartridges can eventually fail so you may have a duff cartridge if the above doesnt work.

Thanks

I just replaced black ink cartridge and snapped all cartridges back in place and recharged the printer now it wont recognize the black ink cartridge even though it was just replaced

Try wiping the copper contacts on the new cartridge with a dustfree cloth dampened with some alcohol. Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.

Printer replaced with black cartridge, and doesnt print

Either the print head for black is faulty, or the wiring to the black print head on carriage are broken. Try also cleaning the metal sensor to the black cartridge inside the ink carriage.

Black lines on paper

The problem is either with your black toner cartridge or the drum. Try changing the black cartridge first, and if this doesnt work then you will need a new drum

Copier won't print black

Have you tried a new black cartridge?
1st I would try to clean the bottom of the black cartridge with a paper towel and some windex. Spray the windex on the paper towel, and then wipe the bottom of the cartridge so it removes any dried ink.
Then you can press the bottom of the cartridge with the paper towel for about 5-10 seconds and see if you get any ink to flow onto the paper towel.
Install the ink cartridge and run the maintenance program that HP has with their software, or just use the menu on the printer, and run the cleaning maintenance and repeat if it still doesnt work.
Worst case, replace the cartridge.
Hope this helps.
good luck.

Canon i560s prints all colors except black

I had a similar problem and found out that you have to specify printing on plain paper. If you choose paper other than plain paper, it will make the black from other colors. Check also that all of your cartridges are seated properly. My magenta was not pushed all the way down so I got green instead of black ink when it mixed the colors to make black.
