Red and Green colour bleed on Sony LCD TV

My LCD TV picture has red and green colour bleed when the picture shows shadows. often this appears in hair colour or shadow from peoples faces which have a red / green appearance or edge. I have tried with HD TV and the problem still exists. The TV was supposed to be the top of the range during spring 2008. I have noticed this on some other LCD TV's but the majority are ok. Is this right? Can it be corrected? Please help? The colour is driving me crazy and I have been on to Sony to get resolved. What can I expect? Red and Green colour bleed on Sony LCD TV. The thing is only 14 months old.help please!!

SOURCE: sony kdf-e50a12u rear projection lcd bravia. red shadows

This *CAN* be fixed. This TV has a problem with running in the 60 Hz range with default factory settings, but it can be adjusted to remove the shadows. Be careful, though, the wrong setting in the service menu can really mess up a TV. Here's how you do it: To bring up the "service" menu, put the TV in standby mode, then press in sequence : Onscreen Display ( the little screen with the i+ in it ) 5 ( channel number 5 ) Volume Up ( upper end of volume button ) Analogue ( middle top button ) The TV should switch on and when it's warmed up, you should see a screen with lots of big green lettering on it. Press the "menu" button ( middle bottom ) Use the direction dial to move down to "LCD Drivers" and press right on the dial to enter this menu. Move down to "S H Pos Reg R". It should be "10", change it to "11". ( Left/Right to adjust ) Move down to "S H Pos Reg G". It should be "10", change it to "11". Move down to "SHPos Reg B". It should be "10", change it to "11". Press the menu bottom to drop out of the menus, and the standy button to drop to standby. Switch back on, and hopefully your ghosting will be gone.

SOURCE: Sony KDF-E50A10 50 inch LCD

It was the light engine, went bad, we called Sony, wrote a letter and they paid for it, $975. they paid all but $135(half the labor). The TV was out of warranty, 20 months old. We told them they warranty the picture tubes in old fashioned TV's for 2 years, the light engine was a comparable part, big component of the TV, so they covered it, our picture is now beautiful

I called Sony Customer Service and they put me with Executive committee, you have to be firm, we said the light engine is the major component of the TV comparible to a picture tube, which is warranty'd for 2 years on a regular TV. They were great, we got our TV fixed in less than 2 weeks. Hope this helps

Why are green horizontal lines are appearing, too much yellow colour and green light blinking red?

These horizontal lines are vertical flyback lines and would indicate
one or more of the tubes cathode drive circuits are defective.
As the picture is predominantly yellow this would indicate excessive drive to red and green guns. Check the red and green video output stages especialy any clamping diodes.regards from Vintie

Picture is OK, but colors are off and there is a blue star background that shows on dark colors.

Hello, With most rear projections there is usually an alignment to do with the set up with your TV. This is so the red, blue and green projectors align together to give the correct colouring. This sounds to me what may be causing the outlining of the blue. This can also make it seem off colour. Look in the set up menu of the tv and see if you can find this alignment feature. Usually a cross will appear and you move a blue, red, and green cross with the arrows on your remote to align over the original white one. If this does not work, it may also mean that one of your projectors, that is the red, blue or green one may be failing causing the off colouring. Hopefully this alignment may fix it for you.

Tv works but picture is showing in blue

If the picture is blue only and there is no red or green, you have either colour gun failures or if you are trying to watch a picture from a component source there maybe something wrong with the red and green cable feeds. Try watching a DVD using a single composite video feed (usually a yellow RCA plug). If this unit has an internal tuner (either analogue or digital) and you still only see blue broadcasts then you have a problem. Whether this unit is an LCD or CRT rear projection TV the repairs will probably be expensive. Ultimately, it is not a user repairable device and needs a qualified Sony tech to undertake the work.

Connecting old DVD player to LCD

Just respect the colors. Green output from the dvd to green input tv, Red output from the dvd to red input tv and the same with blue. All 3 cables (green , red, blue) are for the picture, so you got to plug another 2 for the sound.

Problem in Screen display

Hi, J ! You didn't say how old you set is, but to me it sounds like you may have a warped shadow mask in you picture tube. A shadow mask could be compared to a piece of screen wire. It's function is to make the electron "beams" from the three electron guns strike the proper phosphor dot to produce the proper color- red-green-or blue. If this is the case the picture tube would requie replacement. Stargazer
