I have been given a peavey pv8 mixer without the power supply, I have used a different power supply with the same voltage, my problem is when it's turned on the clip lights are glowing on all channels and also the master fader section clip light is also glowing. Is it a power supply problem please, regards James

Kinda hard to tell you exactly what the problem is. Your current power supply may not be able to give you the amperage you need even though the voltage is the same. You can get the correct power supply on Ebay.

SOURCE: No volume control with 2 faders on Mackie CR1604 mixer

If all other functions work for those channels, the most likely problem is the fader itself. These can fail and operate more like switches rather than faders. Without witnessing the behavior, I can not state that for sure. While these mixers are not the hardest to work on, they are time consuming. The faders can be purchased from Mackie directly. If you need to have this repaired, any shop that repairs audio gear should be able to erpair this for you. Where are you located?

It is likely there is a failure of one of the power supply voltages. The solution requires troubleshooting that is NOT DIY unless you are electronically skilled.

SOURCE: My Behringer XENYX 2442FX Mixer does not power up,

You should find +/-15 volts and +5 volts as well as the phantom power... but that light can come on at much lower than desired voltage.

Note that the regulators are current limited so a short on the mixer board can kill one of the voltages.... but you are not getting any input from teh switching portion of the regulator so the switching part of the supply is apparently dead. To replace the supply you would have to call Behringer at 1-425-672-0816 to get the part number and an incident number and then call FullCompass which is their part distributor now.

When working on a switching power supply, use an isolation transformer for safety and use a 60 watt lamp in series with the power cord to limit current during testing.

The circuitry will be SIMILAR to the power supply found on page 9 of schematic you can download at:

SOURCE: I have purchased a peavey

You MUST turn off the echo from the computer OR remove the sound card to line in connections. The tape out goes through the sound card and immediately back out to the tape in and around it goes for feedback.

The signal lights all flash on and off and the unit will not power up..

This is a common issue with peavey mixers and generally speaking could be addressed by checking the opamps supply voltage which should be -15V at pin-4 and +15V at pin-8, this should help to troubleshoot the issue, let me know to help improvement.

I can`t get any sound from my pv8 mixer i put the speaker cable i have put the red & white phonos into the mixer from my laptop getting on sound from the clip at all please can you tell me where i am...

Several things to do: Plugging into the tape type inputs... say the 7/8 channel.

The little button below the set you plug into needs to be pushed to the down position. This selects the "B" set which are the RCA jacks.

Below the set you are plugged into. Turn up the top knob "Gain" until the "clip" LED just isn't quite flashing.

At the bottom of that same column Turn up the "level" as needed for the mix.

Then of course, advance the Master level as needed.
