I have an LG42LD790 TV which has all been working with no problems. Earlier this evening the screen went black and came up with "no input". The inputs being used come up on the screen but when any are selected it comes up with "no signal" message. Not had this ever before. Have switched off and removed all connections and left for 15 minutes and reconnected everything but still same problem. Please help as have two sons who are most annoyed

The other thing to check is if there is a signal getting to the TV. Are any of the cable or antenna connections loose etc? Are you using a cable or other box/modem that might need resetting? Do you have a computer you can pug in to see if the TV works as a monitor?

Did you pull the power plug when you disconnected all the connections?

Yes I pulled all the connections out as well as the mains lead from the wall. TV recognises the inputs but no signal on any.

Turn it off and unplug the power from the wall. Wait 10 minutes. Plug it back in. Wait 2 minutes before turning on..

That is supposedly the process to reset the main board. Hopefully the main board doesn't need replacing. (Sorry for the separate posts, I can't figure out how to edit the comments.)

Have tried it and still no luck. TV did make a quiet "swoosh" sound up and down and then showed no signal again. Thanks for the suggestion but will need to call someone out to sort

Samsung tv picture goes black to blue and red power button light goes on and off

The device sources and the inputs have not been set to the correct mod. There could be a problem with the TV it's self for it to be turning off like a problem with the power supply for the TV.

Has audio, but why did screen go black?

since the self generated menu displays ok id say you don't have a monitor problem , could it be that maybe somehow it got switched over to maybe an "open" input port (example: hdmi-2) as this would explain things a bit , also when you tried the other tv did you use the same cables to connect it as the non working tv ? as that also would explain things

My television screen went black, but there is has sound

Make sure your tv is on the right input first of all. The newer flat panel lcds combine the componenent video (red , blue, green) with the composite video and audio (yellow, red, white). If your tv is on the component input then you hear audio from the composite input since the audio inputs (red, white) are shared. Look for a source or tv input button on your remote or the tv itself and try pressing this button unti you see a picture with sound.
