Hello, to replace the ir sensor, unplug the set, remove the speaker cover on the front, remove the screws around the plastic push button assembly, carefully remove the wire connections (plug connectors) off the assembly and remove the screws on the back side of the board and remove the board and replace it with the new assembly, re install the screws on the board, attach the wire connections and re mount the push button assembly and replace the speaker cover....tks

Testimonial: "Yes that is the correct information to remove the old assembly. The problem is: The part is not available from Toshiba any longer and I can't locate a used part any where. Any suggestions? Does anyone have one?"

SOURCE: how much to get a toshiba 42H81 convergence?

If it is a minor misalignment it can be corrected from the user menu or the service menu. If it is a major misalignment because of faulty components, typically it will cost at least $300. Don't be surprised if you get a quote of $600 or more.
If you are handy and can solder, you can do it yourself for about $50.

SOURCE: Replace stk392-110 ic's in Toshiba 42h81 tv

Kits are available but price is not real cheap---basically you have to unbolt chassis and release some cables inside to get enough room to pull chassis back and put up so bottom faces rear of set.

In this model both chips are near the middle of the set inside--unsolder all 18 pins on each and the 4 pins that hold each heat sink in---you remove the sink with chip still attached--clean the white grease off, apply new and replace both chips.

Works best if put front chip WITH THE HEAT SINK ATTACHED back in first and repeat with rear sink---it means when you install you have to get 18 pins plus the four pins for the sink installed in one shot.

May not be a task for a first time person.

Location of the ir sensor on Toshiba regza

The location of the IR sensor on a Toshiba Regza TV can vary depending on the specific model of the TV. However, in general, the IR sensor can be found in one of the following places:
  • On the front of the TV: The IR sensor is often located on the front of the TV, usually near the bottom or the top of the TV.
  • On the side of the TV: The IR sensor may be located on the left or right side of the TV.
  • On the back of the TV: The IR sensor can also be located on the back of the TV, usually near the bottom or the top of the TV.
  • On the remote control: The IR sensor can also be located on the remote control.
To locate the IR sensor, look for a small, clear or black plastic window that receives the signals from your remote control, it could be labeled with a name like "IR" or "remote".
It is recommended to consult the TV's user manual or contact Toshiba customer service for more specific information on the location of the IR sensor on your specific model of the Regza TV.
