If your TV is connected to the internet, firmware will be
automatically made available.
If your TV is not connected to the internet, you can download the latest version of firmware from www.toshiba-om.net/firmware.php

If you are still having problems contact the Toshiba Helpline on 0333 222 7111 http://www.toshiba-om.net/pdf/manuals/lcdtv/English/Country_Specific/L2436-4050-English-Specific.pdf
Depending on your TV, here are the generic steps Toshiba has outlined to reset your TV:
1. Press the MENU button on the remote (or MENU on the TV) to open the Setup menu.
2. Using the arrow keys on the remote (or volume / channel on the TV), highlight INSTALLATION at the top of the menu and press ENTER. A new set of INSTALLATION menu icons will appear.
3. Highlight the SYSTEM STATUS menu at the top.
4. Highlight SYSTEM INFORMATION below and press ENTER.
5. At the top of the SYSTEM INFORMATION window, use the arrow keys on the remote (or volume / channel on the TV) to scroll Left/Right through the menu bar to select FACTORY DEFAULTS. Press ENTER.
6. Highlight YES and press ENTER. To cancel the reset process, select NO and press ENTER.
Dear Sir, I have AIWA c142ske TV. No remote functions are working, even manual switches are also not functioning, It got stuck on One channel, The error which is coming on screen is
If the protection screen is broken, Just take it out and replace it with a sheet of plexiglass. If the freznel lens is damaged I believe you will have a hard time finding a replacement. Good luck.
yes. tv has a circuit which controls current to the red, green, and blue piture tubes. you wont get picture until they are balanced. adjust the screen controls until it comes on faster. it should only take maximum 20 seconds for a picture. gaurantee it will fix it. adjust the screen control

You need to get to the service menu--it's been 4 years so go to AVSforum.com to turn off the different guns and get the better pattern.
At your risk:
To get into Service mode:
1. Turn your TV on.
2. For X81 or earlier series: Press MUTE on your remote and release.
2. For H80/H81/HX81 series: Press MUTE on your remote and release two times ("Mute" on-screen)
3. Press down MUTE on your remote again and hold. While holding, press the MENU button on your TV set's front panel. 4. Release both buttons.
5. An "S" should appear on your screen. Press MENU again on your TV.
6. Now you're in service mode. Channel Up/Dn - Scrolls through Parameters and Volume Up/Dn - Changes Parameter Value
To get into convergence mode:
Get into Service mode, then
Hit '7' to bring up the convergence grid.
Buttons 100, 0, and ENT control which gun you want to turn off (if you want to align the red to the green without seeing the blue gun and other variations).
2=up, 8=down, 4=left, 6=right, 3=change gun to converge, 5=converge that point.
To exit convergence mode you press 7 once and your screen should look like it's imploding then return to normal and then you press 7 to get back into regular service mode.
I have more info found on the board.

A component is failing and it is thermo sensitive. As it warms up it starts to work in spec, and thus the set can start up. Most of the time this type of component can be in the scan amplifiers or in the power supply.
The CRT is going weak. When its emission level is below a specific value according to the design of the set, the uPC sends a command to not allow the high voltage to start up, or it is not allowing the the electron-guns to be biased on. As the heater in the CRT warms up, the electron-gun becomes in to proper spec, and thus the uPC allows operation.
Eventualy the set will no longer start up, or what ever is failing will fail completely.
You can take the set in for a service estimate, but personaly I would be shopping for a new set.
MMMM Hard call here. The fact that it does try to come on blue maybe an indication that the power supply regulator circuit is good. It could also be a shorted blue tube and when it comes on its overloading the screen drive and the set goes into overload protection shutdown. The real way to see Would be to pull off the blue crt socket as well as the Hi Voltage lead on the crt and see if the set comes on without blue. If it does Your gonna need a pict tube. If it dosent then troubleshooting along the switched power supplys would be neccassary.. BUT I advise you THAT IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE TROUBLESHOOTING TV SETS PLEASE SEEK A PRO TO ASSIST YOU AS THERES VERY HIGH VOLTAGE INSIDE THESE SETS EVEN IF THEY ARE UNPLUGGED. GOOD LUCK
