Re: My wireless connection is disabled how do I correct
Swipe down from the top of the screen to show Quick Settings, and then tap Wireless.
Verify that Airplane Mode is Off.
Next to Wi-Fi, tap On.
Tap a network to connect to it. If you see a lock icon, a network password is required. Enter the Wi-Fi network password, and then tap Connect.Note: If you don't know the password, check with the person who set up the network. This password is not your Amazon account password.
After you connect to a Wi-Fi network, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the network again when it's in range. If more than one network is in range, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the last network used.

if you are entering the access point details manually ensure you have the correct encryption type selected (WPA, WEP etc) as you will not be able to connect unless you tell it the correct type.
if you are connecting to it from a selection of visible wifi networks you should try entering the password in a note (to ensure it is indeed correct) and then copying and pasting the password into the relevant password prompt box
Under settings on the tablet enable the wireless radio.
Once enabled you should get a list of available networks, select yours.
Enter any password you have.
If you get an authentication failed message and you know your password is correct, try disabling security on your network and try again. Some tablets have a problem with security especially those running ICS.
Verify that the radio is enabled. It is possible to disable the transmitter of the wireless card without Device Manager showing any problems. Note: Follow the instructions provided to enable wireless card.
Most wireless cards will put an icon in the system tray (the line of icons in the lower right corner of your screen). Right click this icon and it may have a menu option to enable/turn on the wireless radio.
Some systems come with a Wireless Radio switch to disable the wireless radios. The wireless radio switch is usually located on the front side of the machine. If you are having difficulties with wireless connections, make sure the Wireless Radio switch is set in the On position.
Check for association to an Access Point. If you double-click the previously mentioned system tray icon, the configuration utility of the wireless card will appear. This utility will be able to show the status of the wireless card, showing what channel the card is using and what signal strength is being received. It may be difficult to maintain a connection if signal strength is low due to either interference or distance. For example, interference can be caused by 2.4GHz cordless phones, other Access Points in the area, and physical structures such as load bearing walls or metal partitions. Note: The utility can be used to configure the wireless card settings, but if using Windows XP Zero Configuration or Access Connections, you will need to use those programs to actually configure the wireless card as they will overwrite the setting of the utility.
