I am using windows XP with an older printer on LPT1. I have loaded the newest driver and am using the Z4m Plus driver. The older ones do not seem to work. The printer prints fine just extremely slow. After each label it back feeds to start anither as if it was another job. whe you have hundereds of labels this is not good. It should continue with no pauses until the end of the job. Any ideas?
Send a code to the printer to eliminate the backfeed. Send it either via serial or parallel. Just put this line into a text file and copy it to lpt1: or what ever you have it hooked to. ^xa^zc2^xz^xa^jus^xz
You can change the backfeed option under the driver settings, I would also turn you print speed up too (on same tab) it sounds to be set on 2.5ips, crank it up to 7ips or higher

There is a much better driver to use for Zebra printers and it come free from www.seagullscientific.com. Look for the drivers download and then pick Zebra.
Check the label size is set correctly in the application. Try using a driver from Nice Label or Seagull Scientific websites to suit Z4M (Not Z4M Plus). Recalibrate the printer and try again. Remember to setup the driver correctly because the driver will override the printer settings.
An unorthodox solution is to install an old driver. Another solution is to use with Codesoft the driver from www.seagullscientific.com, and with Zebra Designer, the Zebra Designer driver. If the printer is connected to the serial port, speeds up communication. Roberto Martinez
The printer is Z4M or Z4M plus? I found this error at z4m plus and the solution is to change the motherboard.

What software are using? If you use or Zebra Designer Label Matrix, uses its own drivers. If you use another driver, verify that the graphics option is "dithering". Roberto Martinez
