SONY STR-DE675 RECEIVER

When I turned on my receiver, in the display area it read "Protect" and does not turn on. What does this mean? and how do I fix it? There is nothing in the manual to even indicate that Protect is a display at all

I seem to be getting popping sound when I turn on the receiver and then after it goes to protect mode, I turn it on and off and it usually fixes itself, but could pop a couple more times until turning it on and off works.

This just started happening to my receiver as well, and I unplugged all the speakers from the unit, and it still comes on and flashes "PROTECT"

I have the same problem! My receiver (Sony STR-DE675) is on "protect". I tried all recommendations such as unplug all the wiring, opened it and dust it off, tighten all screws, checked all the speaker wires and nothing worked. Hopefully someone has the solution?

Protect mean that the speaker wires are touching eachother or that one of your speakers are blown and it is shorting out the receiver.

Check the speaker's connections, I got them message when a speaker wire was unplugged and plugged back in while the unit was powered on

Sony receiver stR se-501 found fuse burned after replaced turned on the flashing massage PROTECT come on . Did I miss anything?

Protect typically means that the fuse blew because something in your receiver went bad. It's now protecting your speakers from that badness. You need to get the receiver fixed or replaced.

Need remote control programming codes

I assume you have purchase a universal remote control...if the programming codes for your Sony STR-DE675 receiver is not listed in the remotes code guide, then you purchased the wrong type universal remote. Make sure you get a universal that does stereo equipment or check eBay for a reasonable price on the original.

Is the STR-DE675 5.1 Surround Sound Receiver compatible with P.C.

Sure! Any P.C. with an audio output jack, like an 8mm phono jack to stereo for example, can be connected to any audio input on the receiver.

Receiver turns off shortly after powered on & displays "PROTECT"

are any other devices sitting on top of this unit? if so it could be an overheat.

If you have pets make sure the wires are not chomped on this can cause a fault.

Also make sure you have nothing other than the factory default speakers hooked up to it.

here is what the users manual says
im going to sum it up for ya. if it says protect that means you have a short circuit please unplug the unit resolve the short circuit and plug back in....... here is the link To the users manual

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/STRDE485.pdf

once it is opened as a PDF document go to the search/ find area and type in "protect" and it will say the same thing.

somewhere you have a short your going to have to follow all the wiring again and look closely
