Connect Philips sw3440/37 powered sub, with no other components. I bought this powered sub at goodwill... How do I hook it up without the other components (dvd player etc.)

Unfortunately, I don't think you can connect this sub-woofer without the rest of the components of the HTS3440/37 DVD Home Theater System or a related Philips home theater system. The speakers in the system are hard-wired with a colored plug that you connect to the sub-woofer. Then you need connect the inter-connect cable between the sub-woofer to the DVD Player of the system. See the wiring guide in the Quick Start Manual or the User Guide available on the product support page: https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/HTS3440_37/divx-ultra/support .

Sub-woofers that aren't part of a home theater system connect to a receiver with a digital audio RCA cable. One example is here: https://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-ULTRA-Subwoofer-Cable-Feet/dp/B003FVYXY0 . Then the speakers also connect to the receiver.

Even if you find another Philips Home Theater system that is missing the sub-woofer, I wouldn't rule out a change in the pin arrangement for the inter-connect cable that would cause the system to fail. I can't find any sources for a replacement inter-connect cable; the part number isn't in the manual that I can find.

I wish that I had better news for you.

I have a harman/kardon avr355 that needs to be set up but i have(LG 4 speakers 3ohms, 1 sub woofer 3ohms) and 2 philips speakers of 8ohms each. please kindly help me on how o set my device up.

Try the "digit" universal remote app with your smartphone..You'll find that the app just about controls anything that requires a remote..Concerning your speakers?? What size are the Phillips?

What is a sub woofer pre-out ?

Sub-Woofer pre out is for connecting that terminal to the input terminal of any sub-woofer. The sub woofer which it should be connected must be an active type [that is, there must be independent amplifier section built it with that sub-woofer; not mearly a crossover network].

HI I BOUGHT HT-S6300 3D-Ready Home Theater System 2 DAYS BEFORE. MY SUB-WOOFER IS NOT WORKING. NO SOUND IS COMING OUT EVEN BLUE LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE CHECKED SPEAKER CONFIGURATION, AND IT GIVES SOUND TO ALL...

Check your owners manual. You will probably have to activate the sub woofer outlet, using the remote. This outlet can usually be programmed to do more than one function.

Where should the sub woofer be placed?

The position of a sub woofer is not at all important. Low frequency sound (which is the main output from a sub woofer) is 'non directional' to the ear, so it doesn't make much difference where you locate it.

If it's convenient place it centre back of the room, but I've got mine to one side at the front and it really makes no difference.

YAMAHA AV receiver RX-V861 I have the message 'Vol-fix' appearing on Zone 2 and no sound. This was working fine until then

Setting the RX-V861 remote control to operate Zone 2:
  1. Using a ballpoint pen or similar object and press the [CODE SET] button RX-V861 remote control. The[TRANSMIT INDICATOR]on the remote should flash twice.
  2. Using the [NUMERICAL KEY PAD] on the remote and key in 9992, the [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] should flash.
Assigning the receivers internal amp for Zone 2:
  1. Set the remote control selector to [AMP]. (Located to the right of the volume buttons on the Remote.).
  2. Press the [SET MENU]button on the remote control.
  3. Arrow down to Manual Setup and press the Enter button on the remote control.
  4. Arrow to the [SOUND MENU] option and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  5. Arrow to Speaker Set and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  6. Arrow to the EXTRA SP ASSIGN and select ZONE2
  7. Press the [RETURN] button on the remote control to exit out and return to the Manual Setup.
NOTES: There is an option for setting the Maximum Volume and Initial Volume in the Zone Set menu.
  • Max Volume: This is an optional feature but isrecommended to prevent the accidental change in volume levels thatcould damage the speakers and receiver.
  • Initial Volume: This is also a great feature that would seamlessly start the volume level for the second or third zone at the desired level.
We do not recommend using any Speaker Selector boxes to enable more than the recommended number of speakers per terminal.
Controlling Zone 2 using the RX-V861 remote control:
  1. If the Main Zone on the receiver is on, press the [POWER BUTTON]down and while holding that button down press the [PHONO]/[**] button on the remote. The [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] will light up.
  2. You will not be able to use the following buttons on the remote: (Pressing any other button will cause the remote to exit Zone 2 mode. [POWER], [STANDBY], [VOLUME], [MUTE] and the [INPUT SELECTOR] buttons [DVD], [CD], etc.)

I lost my remote control and I want to turn on my sub woofer manually through my receiver. How do I turn on my sub woofer.

Perhaps I misunderstand the question.

Depends on the Sub. Most powered subs will go into standby mode in the prolonged absence of a signal. Then they wake up when you play something.

Or are you saying you need to Enable the Sub, as in setup? Remote probably required for anything like that.

HTS 6500/37 sub woofer

the reciever should have a "subwoofer level" setting, or a "bass level control" If you cannot find this then try to place the "sub-woofer" away from walls and elevate it from the floor. This will reduce it's loudness/ intensity at annoying frequencies...

Good Luck
