I have a KFCS22EVMS7 and it seems to have a whooshing sound or swooshing sound coming from behind the freezer. I know it is not the fans they are operating quietly. What else could it be causing the problem. It seems to be pretty constant whenever the fridge is running. could it be caused by the refrigerant pumping through the system?

Update I have pulled the back panel and found that the noise is coming from the evaporator and it is not a vibration noise.

Yes you could be hearing the freon running thru the sealed system. it might be normal, and also you could be hearing the unit going thru a defrost cycle. either way its not likely a problem. just keep an eye out for food getting warm. ice cream, breads and juices need to be at zero degrees to be solid. meats can still be rock hard at 20 degrees. if your unit is not cooling then you will find those items getting warm first. make sure the door is closing properly before you call for service!

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

SOURCE: Haier HRF10 Fridge weird motor sounds

hi. thanks for the question. leaving the door open ,would let a lot of moisture to enter the freezer, and cause it to frost up. to clear frost. cut power to fridge, open the doors .,let thaw over nite clean up the water mess. dry the inside of fridge & freezer turn power on good to go. to stop the door from being left open .lift the legs under the front so the fridge has more weight, and it will close by self . no more doors left open. thanks the appliance doc

Unplug and closely examine the area for a loose fan blade or anything that may be causing the noise. Better now than to get damage that could be prevented. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

after removing all of the freezer racks and shelf pull the 4 1/4 inch screws out at the bottom back panel of the freezer. pull the 2 panels off and slide them out strait down to the floor of the freezer. if your freezer coils are full of snow and ice then the fan cant pull any cold air up into the refrigerator.your problem is probably th defrost adaptive timer. if the heater ohms out at around 20 to 30 ohms it is ok. next ohm the 2 white wires at the plug this is checking the thermostat it shoud ohm out at aproximately 240 k ohms if those 2 things check out the problem is the adaptive defrost timer it is in the ceiling behind the temperature controls on yhe right side.

Whooshing

It will sound like a waterfall, this means your system has lost its refrigerant gas due to a split pipe somewhere in the system

Hearing water behind dashboard

This could be a simple air pocket. Run vehicle with radiator cap off. You will see air bubbles come up. Usually the fan will cycle on and off 3 times and both upper and lower radiator hoses hot. Remember to turn off all heat ac and defrost as this can prematurely cycle cooling fans. This will get all air out. This is also the way to do it anytime coolant is needed and or cooling repairs are done.

Fridge makes an intermitant squeaking sounds

If the sound seems to be coming from the freezer simply put a couple drops of oil on the evaporator fan motor. The evaporator fan motor is located in the freezer behind the panel.
Make sure you unplug the refrigerator before repairing it.

Top is not cooling, sn no cold air is coming into top. Freezer seems to be working

SOUNDS LIKE THE CIRCULATING FAN IS WEARING OUT. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY HARD TO DIAGNOSE BECAUSE THE FAN SPINS BUT NOT FAST ENOUGH TO CIRCULATE CHILLED AIR THRU THE FREEZER AND REFRIGERATOR. THE MINIMUM COST FOR PARTS AND LABOR IS AROUND $300.00. THE FAN IS LOCATED BEHIND THE BACK PANEL OF THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT.

Loud shreaking sound coming from Kenmore Frost Freezer.

The fan behind the molding is hitting some ice build up and causing the sound. Sounds like the timer for the defrost isn't working. Try to turn off the unit for few hours or take off the molding in the freezer compartment and remove the ice build up with hair dryer.

GE Stainless Steel Side by Side - Loud Huming and Whoosh noice

you should not hear it from that far away. It sounds like it may be compressor related. The only thing you could check to make sure is remove the lower rear cover and check the condensor fan and listen to the compressor to see if thats where the noise is cmming from. Check the fan in the freezer too.
