If it a frost free freezer then chances are it is a defrost hearter, fan motor or defrost timer
if it is not frost free then it will either be the compressor or a gas leak ( which should be under warranty)

If this is an automatic defrost or "no-frost" freezer and it has developed a lot of frost and ice, call a repairman. That should never happen.
But if it's a manual defrost model, follow this procedure.
1. Turn off the freezer. Then remove all the food and toss it into a picnic cooler to keep it frozen. (Some blue ice packs will help.)
2. Open the drain on the bottom of the freezer, and put the end of the hose from the drain (which most have) into a roasting pan to catch the water from the melted frost.
3. Leave the door open. If you have a small electric space heater, blow warm air into the freezer to speed up the melting process.
4. Don't scrape the ice -- you could puncture a cooling coil in some units, making the freezer useless.
5. In about 30 or 40 minutes (15 with the space heater) the ice will be melted.
6. Dry the interior with a towel, toss the food back in, turn the freezer on again, and you're done.
it may take upto24 hours to settle to -18C,remember it has to cool right through the food in the freezer,as well as the walls.also if the food went soft, it is spoilt......cook meat asap then refreeze.
THE RED WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND I HAVE TO KEEP PRESSING THE FAST FREEZE BUTTON, THIS IS EVERY FEW DAYS. IF I DONT NOTICE ALL THE FOOD DEFROSTS!
One reason for the fan running is that it is trying to distribute the air in the compartment. Look at the very rear of the freezer on the bottom and see if the little vents, which allow water to disperse, are not filled with frozen ice. If so, turn off the fridge (unplug it) and use a hair dryer to melt that ice until it is all gone. That will probably fill the condensation pan under the unit and you'll need to empty it.
When you open the freezer compartment do you hear a fan blowing? If no the take off the back cover and replace the fan. The compressor has to be on at the same time for the fan to work. If you know what I mean. let me know what happened. thanks.
