Sorry bad news these TV's work off of lights that shine thru the back of the screen if you heard a pop it was the power board that turns on those lights not an easy fix sorry.

Heard a pop and picture went black ,no audio .lamp has never been replaced.

You need a new picture tube. The same thing happened to my tv. My audio went out also but for some reason when the tube was replacd it fixed the problem. The tubs are about 200.00

Pop sound then no picture, just sound

I assume this is a plasma TV? You will have a fuse blown on either the Y or Z sutain board, there is also a possibility one of the driver IC's has blown on the buffer board, this will shut down the screen & leave the audio working normally. You can check these boards which sit on the left & right hand sides of the screen.
