Does water filter stop water coming in when dirty

if the filter is dirty enough to where it stops the flow of water then yes.a replacement of the filter should fix the problem for you

It could - BUT it would also stop the water dispenser from working at the same time. So if the water dispenser is working, the filter is not your problem. The more likely cause in that event would the the 1 in two out solenoid controlled water valve. If you follow the water line it it the first valve you come to.

Push and hold the button for the filter, and it should reset, the ref. the light will come on based on time, not a dirty filter, so use your water flow out of the spout, as a indicator.

Try making sure filter is installed correctly. Push filter down onto foot ring. Install cartridge support on top of filter with gasket into filter and fingers up. If filter is not seated on top and bottom, debris in water will flow around the filter instead of being trapped in it.

Are you using the rinse setting for a few seconds following the backwash? If not, once you finish washing, stop the pump, change the valce to rinse, then run it about 3 to 5 seconds. Shut down then switch to filter and the particles should stop coming back to the pool.

Try one thing... the filter cover must be clicked into place. I thought it just sat on top, but it has to be pushed into place.

Without knowing the model # filter is usually located on bottom of fridge in grill. When you depress the lever listen for the water valve in back of fridge to click on if not you may need a new water valve. What is the age and model # of fridge?

remove the dirty water tank and see if the front nozzle is fitted correctly, also see if the filter is clean on the dirty water tank
