My hp 5510 all in one is showing a "no fax" message on all incoming faxes. I know the out going faxes are going thru, I checked. I don't know what the problem could be. I'm not getting any error messages.

Hi,
Check to make sure the ink is coming out of the cartridge as this often takes some coaxing with a new one. Take the cartridge out of the printer and dab the print head on a piece of paper and check to see if the print head leaves a mark on the paper. If you see 2 stripes on your paper it means the cartridge is okay. On the other hand, if there is no ink mark left on the paper it means that the ink is not flowing freely from the print head. In this case, fill a saucer or old coffee mug with hot water and place the cartridge in the water so that only the print head is submerged. Leave it for a few minutes and then dab it on the paper again to see if the ink is flowing.
Please let me know if this is not what's causing the problem.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

    Hi,
Try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer driver.

    Good luck,

Hello,

First, I would suggest suggest you reset the FAX. If resetting does not solve the problem, you can then read and follow instructions on this link; http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01669298&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=311255

1. Remove all of the paper loaded in the main input tray.

2. Press the power button to turn off the HP fax product.

3. Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the HP fax product.

4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the HP fax product and from the electrical
outlet, and then wait one minute.

5. Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.

6. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the HP fax product.

7. Press the power button to turn on the HP fax product.

8. Reconnect the USB cable to the back of the HP fax product.

9. Replace the paper in the main input tray.

10. Use the HP Fax Test Service to try to send and receive a fax.

Good luck.

Will not accept incoming faxes

Have you set the Fax to Auto-answer or is it waiting for you to manually answer the fax? Change this by pressing Setup and Press 3, Press 3 again. Press the right arrow to toggle On or Off.

Make sure that the rings to answer is set appropriately. Press Setup 3 4 to change.
If you have a PBX or ISDN converter phone system, check that you are using the correct phone jack - for phones and faxes.

Do you have a voicemail service on the line? This will force you to receive faxes manually and only when you are present.

If you have an answering machine connected to the line, check that the answering machine is not the problem by disconnecting it and trying to receive a fax. Long welcome messages can make the calling fax machine hang up early. Insufficient time between the end of the message and the beep can make it impossible for the OfficeJet to spot the fax tones; the same is true with loud messages.
If this is the problem, record your message again, keeping it short (10 seconds but speak softly and slowly).

If you have a distinctive ring on the fax line, make sure that the OfficeJet is programmed to recognize the ring (some ring patterns cannot be interpreted and you'll need to contact your phone company to change it).

Check that other computer hardware is not causing an issue (modem with auto-answer, other interference). Unplug everything except the OfficeJet and try to receive a fax to check for interference. Then reconnect one item at a time and try getting a fax again to determine which item is causing the probelm.

I hope this helps.

Hp officejet 5510 fax issues

Have you run through the setup procedure detailed in the User Manual? Unfortunately it is far too large to post here. Can you receive faxes OK? If you don’t know just dial your fax number from any phone and see if it answers and you can hear fax garbage noise down the phone. If so then that is a positive sign. If you get stuck then drop me an email to [email protected] and I can email you a full check and test procedure for this model.

Machine shows "phone off hook"

Hi there

check where your phone cale goes into the machine you will proberbly find two sockets one marked phone and one marked line the phone line needs to go into the one marked line and a phone handset in the one marked phone if this is correct try ringing yor line that the fax is plugged into see if you get a ring or engaged tone if you are getting engaged unplug the fax and try again if this now works the chance is that the modem board in your fax has failed and will require replaceing

HP 5510 Scanner/Copier/Fax Stuck

I had the same problems some months ago. I only solved it when I deleted the printer settings from my computer and reinstalled the software, making sure that I installed all the components from the CD. Also make sure that the printer is on fax default setting when you are using it as fax. You can check this by going to My Computer then Control Panel, then choose Printers and Other Hardware then choose Printers and Faxes. You can then set as default hp Officejet 5500 series fax. Hope these suggestions help.

Not recieving only in memory

My good friend:

The only reason why your unit stops printin faxes is because the toner cartridge is nearly empty. Th e unit will then try to conserve the remaining toner for printing and copying. Follow this steps to program the unit to print all faxes, even with toner low:

When the toner cartridge is nearly empty, the machine shows
the “[Toner Empty]” message and continues printing except
incoming faxes. In this case, incoming faxes are saved in
memory.
However, you can set the machine to print incoming faxes, even
though print quality is not optimal.
1 Press Menu until “Machine Setup” appears on the display.
2 Press the scroll button ( or ) until “Ignore Toner”
appears on the bottom line and press Enter.
3 Press the Scroll button ( or ) to select “On” or “Off”.
Select “On” to ignore the [Toner Empty] message.
Select “Off” to stop printing incoming faxes when the
message appears. This is the default setting.
4 Press Enter to save the selection.
5 To return to Standby mode, press Stop/Clear.

Be blessed
